Starting to think what would I be missing this year at the TT and had this short video (partial lap) of 4 mins sent of John Mc during qualifying for the Superbike TT 2016.

God those trees fly past fast

Did you double check the history of your T100 Jez, I’m sure you said when you bought it that it had only had one careful owner from Morecambe in Lancashire

He’s only 48 and still bloody quick. Why not carry on doing what you love if you’re still enjoying it and getting a good ride/ pay packet? :p Fair play to him I say, and I’d still not bet against him winning more TTs.

Yes John is still quick but unfortunately not super quick as the younger opposition such as Hickman,Harrison,Dunlop etc who are prepared to push the envelope beyond reality and these are the guys who command and get the best machinery and team support which is what’s needed to win a TT.

Maybe John stands a chance of crossing the finishing line in 1st place on e bike again but only if he’s on a Mugen again and unfortunately a win on a e bike doesn’t count as a TT win.
Neither do wins at the Classic TT.

Don’t get me wrong it would be nice if he could win a TT again.

I too wish he would retire, not that I have anything against him. I want him to finish while he is still in one piece and also I don't want Joey's record to be beaten!
@Tiglet , brilliant bit of footage, cheers for that. I used to to the TT every year in late 80s early 90s and even if I say it myself I could go well round the circuit, it was the only place I regularly scraped my GSXR1100, but I have absolutely no concept of how those guys ride like that. Balls bigger than my house!

I can’t see Joeys record of 26 wins being broken for a long time if at all especially as E bike and Classic bike TTs wins don’t count.
With the cancellation of this years TT it will be even harder for the present day opposition to break the 26 win barrier.

E bike wins do count, Classic wins don’t. John was gutted that the TT Zero class has been shelved as it was his best/only chance of upping his tally.

When I changed the cam on my Bonnie I put it on the next bench to that Paton (hoping some of the speed might rub off!).

I have been lucky enough to work with loads of the top TT riders, but I am only loosely involved with the team now - talking to sponsors etc. My last event ‘on the spanners’ was the 2016 Classic TT, coincidently, John’s first win on our Paton.

    Great picture Simon.

Do you go over for the Classic TT.

We usually go over for the Southern100 Pre TT Classic stopping for the TT evening practice sessions, the Southern100 International in July and the Classic TT and MGP.

When I contacted the Steam Packet last week to get our refund for the Pre TT Classic/TT Practice the girl I spoke to seemed to think that a decision will be made in about 2-3 weeks time with regards to this years Classic TT/MGP.
    Have you heard anything.

    Yet another fantastic picture mate.

It's a shame, there won't be any racing on the Island this year. I've just rolled over my sailings for the TT till next year, and now the Classic, and the Manx has gone, we won't get there till next year. I wonder if ITV4 will show old TT races when they should be on. I suppose it's better than nothing. :(

I bet it's bloody pissing down again next year, like last year. I've had to buy a new tent. I might put it up in the garden TT week and pretend we're there.

Good idea Easy and if you’ve got any of the old Stanley Schofield records you can play one of those also and really pretend you’ve been transported back in time ;):grinning:
