I know it's not a Triumph that's why it's posted in other bikes!

But these beauties have real character plus the soul of the Italians, but with Japanese build quality & reliability  makes them an easy bike to love, oh the noise ... and the wheelies!

This was my first one, a beautifully made 2000 model, this bike took my track riding to new levels when compared to the 955 Daytona it replaced.

    r.jpg
Then the 2004 Factory was released early, in Sep 2003 I was booked in for service on the R, saw the new bike in the showroom  the rest they say is history, picked it up Friday, ran in over the weekend, service Monday & track day booked for the Tuesday!

Below is me on a track day at Silverstone in 2004, clearly loving life with the sweet handling grunt meister :D:D:D

Same model, same year, but not the same bike & fast forward 16 years (where'd that time go?)
Castle Combe in 2020 still having a ball on the big Ape

Oh! Did I mention the wheelies?? :D:eek::cool::joy::heart:

So come on then, let's have your long term bike love affair. :p

I guess It would have to be my current ride ZZR1400, longest I've ever kept a bike, just pipping the R1 I bought in '04. The "perfect roadbike" is obviously subjective to the individual but this comes close for me. Probably the best bike ever to wear the sports tourer hat IMO. It's certainly no full on scratcher but has excellent handling that belies it's weight, comfortable with power and torque to die for. A steady cruise round, attack your favourite route or chuck on some luggage and head for the other end of the country. Easy.

E1092A89-C1EC-42C0-95A5-1AED3278F27D.jpeg 7 bikes in 16 months and I kept the Ditch Pump R9T for 13 of those months!

Was interested in the new T660 but it seems like it might be mid ‘21 before it shows?

The Ditch Pump Dealer mailed to say they had an R9T Pure (Low) come in, and today, #8 is in my garage.
It was the LOW bit that clinched the deal for me.

Still time to get bored and change again before the T660 arrives.
    Cheers,Ken.
PS. Leave the pitch forks in the shed. :scream:;)

Bloody Hell mate, 7 bikes in 16 months is good going even by my standards from the late 90's & early naughties when I changed bikes more often than @dilligaf changed his shreddies! :p

I must admit though, if money wasn't an issue I would have many, many bikes to play with ...:imp:

    Hey, Bad Billy,
I can’t afford to collect ‘em!
Still only 2 in the garage, the other being an old BM 1100RS I picked up a few weeks ago.
    Cheers,Ken.

I did the same from the late 80's up to the early 2000's. I was a sucker for a spec sheet and every time a new 'Blade/R1/Gixer came out I had to have it and wasn't bothered in the least about the big hit on the trade in deal. More money than sense maybe but I enjoyed every minute of it so what price that?

There are plenty that are the same mate, I hear my mates arguing about max power, torque etc like it's top trumps!

I rode 2 of my mates rocketships when we were in the Pyrenees a couple of years back, one was an R1M, complete with up/down QS including the aftermarket auto blipper & tune, this thing puts out 208bhp at the back wheel ffs!
I described it as like sticking clipons on a skud missile & then trying to keep up! It was a truly awesome bike but waaaay too much for the road, even with all the electronic gizmos to stop you launching yourself into the next postcode over the highside it was a handful!
The other one was a a first generation BMW 1000RR, this was a 'mere' 190bhp, this was also a bonkers bike to ride, but if honest I preferred it to the R1M, it reminded me of my Gixxer 1000K5, I got off that proclaiming it as a 'proper superbike'. That said, round those sort of roads in Northern Spain, neither could leave my 765RS Streety until we got to the big straights, so real world riding isn't about spec sheets. :)

    Correction needed to my post.
I did buy 7 bikes in 16 months, but I kept the last one (BM) for 13 months after the 16 months, making total of 7 bikes over 29 months.
    Ken.

Sir William, the Aprilias will move your soul. Over the years I’ve had a 2001 Mille R, a 2007 Tuono, and an RSV4, and a Tuono Factory.

I just sold that 2005 Tuono Factory today (to my buddy who is also named Bill ;)). So I’ll be without an Ape for the first time in 14 years.

I will no doubt regret this, but Bill tells me that I have visitation rights :grinning:

I admire your negotiation skills ... visitation rights! ;)

Does your mate Bill wanna buy an Aprilia race bike & then loan it back to me to compete on? (and pay for the tyres/parts fuel etc) :D

Ooooh. You want me to ask him? :p

To seal the deal you will have to come to the States and race it at Sonoma Raceway, Laguna Seca, and Willow Springs. Is that OK? :grinning:
