How many serving/ex military?

Summer ended on 1st May. Spring was good. Summer hasn't really happened.......weak sunshine, drizzle (technically dreich) or hissing down.
Whereabouts in Germany are you?

 

Down near the Sennelager Parachute centre a town called Bad Lippspringe

 

By the way home town is Dumfries

 

Hah! I am actually near Biggar so Dumfries is none too distant.
I did 4 tours in BAOR - 2 in Bielefeld and used to shoot at Sennelager (targets and game!) and with a German friend on the Teutoburg at Horn Bad Meinburg. I knew that neck of the woods pretty well. There were two Germanies then and I rode an R100RS.

 

Bielefeld, i would be thinking ex RCT. I do an awful lot
of Game Shooting, in fact going out tonight after wild Boar. Small world.

 

I still have my Jagdschein gathering dust somewhere, not that I'll ever renew it now. Zigeuner/Wildschwein/Uberlaufer/Frischling? The old grey cells stir as I have not spoken German in years.
I was indeed a truckie although one of the Bielefeld tours was in Corps HQ......which itself dates me. My boss was an inspirational RTR man and Brian Kenny, just deceased, was the Corps Commander.....a different world.

Hövelhof ,60th Birthday Party this month, probably be
2-3 other Ex RCT there aswell.

 

Good bunch. Took a large crew of them with me to Bosnia on GRAPPLE 1.

 

I was in Bielefeld... 1 Crp trps wrkshp. I did a 6 month at HQ in the wrkshp there. The reccy mech was a star the rest were arseholes.
