    Just on the nodding /Waving thing, over here in Ireland they stick a leg out to say hello, took me a while to sus out what they were doing, as anyone else seen that done?

    Yup! Usually from bikes revelling the same direction, as they overtake or you overtake, as you can't really see the nodding head from behind!
    Or they're trying to kick me off me bike and they're just bad shots

    As above - normally when they overtake you but occasionally when coming the other way.
    Popular in Europe especially with Dutch riders it seems.

    I understand the 'leg kick' originates from Moto GP when riders were indicating to other riders they were pulling into the pit lane :/
    I use it when another rider has pulled to the side so I can pass, usually when progressing through heavy traffic.

    I personally straighten my leg in front of the foot peg rather than to the side, I think it looks less agressive (hopefully) so other road users don't interpret it as the equivelant of the finger!

    i always thought it was because when they are riding on the right rather than taking their hand off the throttle to wave, it makes more sense to stick the leg out
