See I said they don’t like mints I like mince pie don’t get them mixed up Otherwise you’ll never get rid of them
^^^ . Mint oil it is. Yesterday I removed the tank and had a good look n did not find any droppings or tell tale signs of rodents. Anyways I soaked the entire engine area and wires with WD40. Left some baits around the bike under the cover near the wheels and stand. This Friday I need to loosen the headrace bearings as I think they are a little on the tight side. So probably end up giving it a thorough check
I live next to a lagoon and had the same problem few yrs back. Bastards chewed a water hose on wife’s Audi. Hose sprung a leak and caused it to overheat. $4 k damage for warped intake manifold. Luckily homeowners insurance paid the bill. Now I peppered the engine bay with Cayenne pepper. No more varmits. Folks also report good results with placing dryer sheets, the ones with scents around engine bay.
I'm going to purchase some strong peppermint spray. Spray it all over my covers and all around the engine bay. Also soak some in clothes and leave them under the seat area. Anything to keep these rodents away. As ken walburn mentioned I'm going to remove the top airbox and give it a once over. Hopefully the property management company would have called the pest control people. What a drama
Couple of years ago a client brought his Lexus into us with a massive engine misfire. Diagnostic checks revealed that a mouse (mice) had chewed through the HT Leads (3 of 6). Found a dead mouse & lots of carp fish food stored between the cam covers. The owner was garage get his car, inside the garage, all his pond fish food. Cost him over £300 to repair, new leads & wiring repairs.
Bought some 100% peppermint oil. Idea is to get a small tin put a few holes in them. Soak cotton wools in the oil and leave it in the tin by securing it under the rear seat. As my bike doesn't get used daily, I'll leave another tin near the handle bars under the cover as well as some block baits. I'm in the process of using a micro camera to check around the tight spaces to see if any of these rodents living in there.
^^^ oh noooo. I'm not looking forward to this job. On Sunday I cleaned the bike off all the dropping. I wore gloves but still ended up having diarrhoea I hate this business
