Thanks Dartplayer, sound advice. That would be the wise thing to do. Since I'm re-adjusting my expectations slightly there's obviously a greater choice for me to look at. I might have to enquire about a couple of test rides.

Well, I found one I liked and bought it. I got a lovely 2014 Speed Triple R. 4500miles, History , really well looked after. It's got loads of bits already on it. SC Project low slung exhaust, rear seat cowl, Tail Tidy, Triumph Billet brake reservoirs, Pazzo levers, Crash bobbins, tank pads, Triumph bar end mirrors and a full gold bolt kit. All for £6200.
