One expression that I in my childish humour still snigger at is:

"Long necks" Why ? "Cos they're alus looking over Pennines to see what we're up to"

Only a joke crane you're necks in!

 

More likely its to make sure you Tykes stay were you are and aren't trying to sneak in Gods Country
