Hello to all. I might as well jump into the deep end. I'm looking at an Adventurer with 64K miles. I figure if it made it that far, the owner must have been doing something right. Are there any particular areas I need to be looking at with higher mileage Triumphs? Or are there any particular parts that tend to go out at certain mileages? This bike is relatively cheap and may have a lot of life left. I'm just not familiar at all with Triumphs. I became aware of the Adventurers a few years ago and like them overall.

They are quite robust machines. I would want to make sure of the service history and cleanliness of the machine. Things like run your fingers around the disc's see how much wear and lip they have as probably need changing. Listen for any unusual noises and rattles from the engine. Wheel trueness and straight forks and swinging arm bearings. Sometimes a cheap bike becomes an expensive repair. Look once and twice and more. Get a test ride.
    Joe.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, that is my worry, as Triumph part aren't cheap. I have not seen it yet, saw the ad last week and have been thinking about it. I like the model, but I will see. I was mainly worried about the engine, as all the regular wear and tear parts will need to be addressed. From what I can tell from reading, is that the engine is good to go as long as regular maintenance has been done.

I'd also take a close look at wheel bearings and MOST of all, the suspension.
That's often overlooked but just as important as the engine.
eg, has it been changed? It's almost certainly going to need a new rear shock at the very least.

Sprag clutch can be an issue, but as you said, it's made it this far.

Update. Decided against buying it. Couldn't take it for a test ride due to a gas leak, so I passed. Maybe next time. Thank you all for for your helpful replies.
