Don't know that I like.the idea of the 39mm carbs on that engine. Hope you can get it sorted. You may be opening up a real can of worms. Enjoy ...J.D.
Hi Scott and welcome to the forum Best of luck with your updates. Would send original carbs for a sonic clean as well and leave cans until after doing carbs
Evil: I am not suprised the Micron exhaust cans I have are no longer available. Mine have been on my bike a number of years. I thought I might also address the issue of the airbox. Before you trash it you might consider why the mfg. put it there in the first place. On some engines you have the issue of "fuel standoff". Under certain conditions a fog of air/fuel mixture forms above the carburetor air horns. The airbox is there to contain it by keeping a negative air space above the carburetors. It is the same purpose that velocity stacks have been used on some racing engines. The air box volume and the opening size have a lot of effect on air flow of.these engines. I have modified versions of stock air boxes on both of my T-3 engined bikes. I have built two different styles. Both based on a stock box. Both have thier air openings enlarged, and then the engines were jetted to that opening to get a proper mixture. Just something to consider before you commit money to your project. ...J.D. P.S. May I suggest you search "fuel standoff" on the internet.
Thank you for responding to my situation,I read up on fuel standoff, which I had not heard of before, pretty interesting and scary, could get messy,I contacted Sudco(carb company) he explained that the stock carbs are a diaphragm style carb, that the air coming into them controls the slides,so they designed to work with the air box,the carburetors I'm buying are mechanical slide carbs,no air box required,I appreciate your input, and everyone's else's in the forum, still working on opening up the exhaust system, thanks
