Just a quick hello to my fellow addicts.

I've been riding since 1976 and have just bought a Tiger 1200 XRX -my first new vehicle since the bicycle I had aged 11 in 1966.

I intended to part-exchange my BMW K1300 S Motorsport against the Tiger, but after a 'final' blast last month, realised that I simply wasn't ready to let the 'Starship' go just yet, and ended up shelling out cash for the Triumph. So I've now retired my 'flying brick' 1997 BMW K1200RS, which I may bring back to life sometime in the future.

The deteriorating state of the roads was one of the main reasons for buying the Tiger - a test ride back in August totally convinced me that this bike was on my short list - of one. Simply couldn't fault it and almost didn't take it back to the dealers . .

Having done a couple of foreign tours on rented R1200/1250 GSs, I knew that I just couldn't buy that Boxer motor. For me, this 1200 triple is simply superb - the bottom end grunt of a twin (almost) and the high rev pull of a four (almost). I am due to retire in couple of years, and hope to ride that Tiger till the day I drop.

I tend to end up either on the Yorkshire coast via the Wolds (Seaways cafe), the North Yorkshire moors or the dales, so see you out there . .

Thanks to each and every one of you for your warm welcome. Feels like home already.

I’ll try to post pics of the bikes when I can arrive home in daylight, and when I no longer need to chip the local dogs off lamp posts. Heated bars? I’d need a heated cod-piece to ride in this weather. . .
