Do you think it would be improved by have shorter courses and more rounds? Then you can concentrate on driving quickly and only need to remember short sections at a time.
Naw, be too easy. Part of the fun is trying to remember and actually having to drive at the same time. Do get a sense of achievement when you clear a round, right way, quickly and no cones hit.
Has anyone tried the motorcycle gymkhana ‘sport’ that looks hard to remember and needs you to be able to do some seriously tricky low speed twists and turns. A lot of skill there. Since I can’t ride properly in a straight line, I’ll not be bothering with it myself... Examples: You can see that the rider is really looking where they want to go... I have never seen anyone ride one of those road barges like that before!
Wow that’s some ridiculous riding skill, my skill set would probably remove about 50 no 80% of the cones and end up on my arse
Looks like you’ve got those handbrake turns sussed Ron. Be no use me having a go I can’t even remember where I’ve put my glasses
How did you know ???? I really did forget to breathe !!! Did the same thing when on track with the bike
Bought a new filter, the one on the car was a shitey cheap as filter, so was all the excuse needed. Jusr designing a Cold Air Intake System. This is so you draw cold air in (more dense, more oxygen), instead of hot engine air. Will remake it in plastic or alloy, as the cardboard tends to get a bit soogy if it rains! When grass autotesting, going to take the headlights out (weight reduction & to aid cooling), so this will give it loads of fresh air coming in.
Come on Ron if your serious about weight loss just have one almighty dump and a shave before the event, that’ll sort it
First Grass Autotest today. Got a 3rd in class, which was OK, really wanted 2nd, but gives me a target when we are out next weekend. My daughter is gradually catching me , instead of being 5 or so seconds behind, she's getting the gap down to under 2 seconds and she got 4th in class, so really proud of her. Mini went great, no problems, but there is a bit of tyre rub at full compression of the suspension. Must get the rear shock pulled and get it measured up for the rear lift designs. Been so busy just getting the wee car ready, not had time to get the 'extra' bits sorted. Radiator went last Thursday, new one fitted on the Friday. It actually looked like somebody had thought about having to replace it !!! Was so easy it was off the car and on the deck in 23 minutes, new one fitted in under an hour and back on the road in 90 minutes (1/2 hr to warm and bleed the system). Easiest job I have done on a car. This was Grace Driving !!! Don't know where she gets such hooliganism from
Second grass test in the Mini today. Usually around 1 a month, but for some reason we had 2 in May the following weekends ???? Bit of drizzle on / off today, so it was like green ice out on the course. Pushing hard was a waste of time, so just keeping it smooth and flowing was what was required. Knocked 5 seconds off a 82 second lap taking is easier, rather than revv'ing the nuts and charging in. Anyways, much better drive today for me, managed to get a second in class and 7th overall. Had I not picked up 2 penalties for hitting cones on my first two runs, I would have got 5th overall, so I am much happier with my times this event. Even with my penalties, I was within 30 seconds of the top three (after 7 laps), so I am feeling pretty chuffed with that. These boys have been doing it for years, or they are club rally event regulars, so to get that close after our 2nd event is pretty good. Onwards and upwards. Regular top 10 finishes and hopefully top 5 soon. This is one of the school's cars. Took 4 new boys out today, their times steadily fell during the day, so pleased for them.
Bit of silliness, When I'm autotesting, I replace the headlights with mesh, hoping you can see through There is recess's in the arch liners, like someone had thought about doing this !!!!
