One of my wife’s many ventures (after I got her off the street) was operating a K9 grooming business. She had a shop in the center of our little town, but the building was for shit and the landlord wouldn’t fix the many issues it had. We converted our detached garage into her shop. I ran natural gas and water lines out to it and installed a heater, a water heater, a sink and a tub. She did well with it for several years, but injured her back in a car accident and could no longer wrestle with unruly mutts that didn’t appreciate a nice bath. As a result, I got my garage back with hot water and heat. Now my bike lives better than probably 2/3 of the world’s population. The heater has its own little fan, but the wall mounted oscillating model above circulates the warm air a bit better. I keep it about 60 degrees in there.A small fridge stocked with brews makes it my little getaway.
A neighbour has made a workshop/barn heater out of an old calor gas bottle. The emptied the gas and removed the valve system. After making the valve hole bigger to support a larger diameter flu pipe they welded it on to exhaust the gasses. An angle grinder and a bit of welding made a door in the side (with hinge/lock/handle). Finally feet were welded on to raise the contraption off the floor. It works perfectly and throws off loads of heat.
Yes I get that, but when burning fuel for heat, the exhaust IS the heat. I'm wondering how they extract the heat from the exhaust before chucking the latter outside (via it's pipe). They do apparently work though, so I think I might have to get one.
It’s a cast cylinder with a burn chamber that runs around a furnace tube. All this is inside a large plastic housing that wind travels through Via a fan into the air ducting. The exhaust is only small at 25mm dia but also gives off free heat too as it leaves the building
Done that many years ago using a ‘47’ kg. It worked daily in my 500sq ft work shop at the time. It was impressive although mucky
Not really funny.....we used to light Salamanders and use them outside. When using them inside they just exhausted into the room they were in. Doubt they’d be legal now. One time, I think around 1990 I saw many hundreds of Salamanders burning outside in Florida, or poss maybe CA. They were trying to keep the frost from killing all the orange groves, unsuccessfully as the oranges withered. KEN.
