There's a really good looking "Battle of the Bulge" museum in Malmedy and it's feckin shut when we pass by on our way to BB. There is another museum here which is also shut http://www.december44.com/en/info.htm However, they are both open when we come back.
Ok, after spending nearly a day looking at routes off the Motorway from Malmedy i think i have found a Scenic route that has fuel and tea breaks on route and will give us a fairly direct route to Bad Bertrich . I have put it up on My routes app if you go into mylist.I have made it Public See what you think Lads It will make the last section of travel more interesting
If you do a wee detour to Weiswampach in Luxemburg you can fill up with cheap petrol and stock up on cheap booze and fags.
For those who smoke and drink it can be done but it will make the journey longer, I,ll leave it up to yourselves to decide.
I will try and get better pics up for you Andy , the hardest part is Germany.....The feckers wont let you use the little man in Google maps so you have to use the webb to look up places, You can thank The Council for letting me use work time to do my research I will put up some more pics Shortly
Looks OK to me Wayne. There’s a few fuel stations and eateries in Malmedy. Can peeps get from the meeting point with Wayne to Malmedy on a tank of fuel, it’s about 100/110 miles?
For those who will be using a map to follow I hope you can sus this out This is only my suggestion From our meet in Antwerp Head on the E313 To HASSELT (68 Km) Petrol/TeaCoffee or Fast Food. Back to the E313 heading towards LIEGE turn off onto the E25 over the river onto the E42/A27 to MALMEDY Stop for Petrol if required , Carry on on the N62 through MELMEDY Turn off at ARIMONT towards HOTLEUX to link up with N632 (possible stop near Hasendell Café near two lakes) Carry on along the N632 across the border to Germany down the 265 to meet up with the 421 at HURGERBERG Stay on the 421 to Betteldorf then join the 410 then the 421 heading to DAUN join the 257 before turning onto the 421 all the way to HONTHEIM where we turn off on the L103 for BAD BERTRICH LOL (some of this route was used by the Allies during the war)
Guys my partners funeral is on Monday. So there is no reason I cannot now rejoin this trip. I’ve rebooked at the Park Hotel for 10th to 14th September. The least time I spend in the house on my own the better. I’ll be in urgent need of several Jaegermeisters and umpteen beers and some good company. BC
Hope you have a good time Nikki And drink plenty of alcohol ...you know it makes sense Will be thinking of you on Monday
