Sprinter, I think most are arriving at the Park Hotel Bert Badrich on Monday 10/09/2018 and leaving the hotel on Friday 14/09/2018. Most of the northern contingents are sailing out of Hull to Zeebrugge on Sunday evening 09/09/2018 and sailing back to Hull on Friday evening 14/09/2018. Both crossings are over night. I booked my accommodation with the hotel directly and saved £30 on booking.com prices. Get it booked old lad
@Sprinter I’m not going to make it due to w.....w....wo.....wah! Have room booked which is cancellable up to 8th aug 193£ if there’s no rooms left
Just looking at dates to see if I can tag along. it looks to me I can join as the start of a Salonika battlefield visit. I'll read through the thread to work out who's traveling from where to which crossing and get myself booked if all the dates fit. 18th/19th September will be the 100th anniversary of the horrendous Third Battle of Doiran where my Granddad was one of the fortunate survivors of the futile second-day assault on Pip Ridge. I'd like to visit the cemetery where many of the men of the Cameronians he led found their final resting place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Doiran_(1918)
I’m going via the Tunnel with my misses, taking a leasurly route to Bad Bertrich Sun 9th 09:50 tunnel to France Sun 9th night in Liege in Ramada Plaza Mon 10th - Sat 14th in Bad Betrich in Parkhotel Sat 14th night in Leige in Ramada Plaza Sat 15th 14:50 tunnel back to U.K. More than happy to have company
Just me being different and travelling up to Bad Bertrich from Alsace-Lorraine or Elsass-Lothringen as Winglad's Grandfather would have said!
There is a thread in the Lounge section for Ferry Bookings so you can see who is going where and when. I did ask Ron to make this a sticky but he wouldn't so you may have to dig for it. Most of us Northerners are doing Hull to Zeebrugge going out on Sunday 9th September arriving 8:45am Monday morning and then returning on Fri 14th by the same route getting to Hull on Saturday 15th. The Southern contingent seem to be going through the tunnel. There is the possibility that North could meet South on Monday 10th ? Most people are stopping at the Park Hotel in Bad Bertrich. I have heard today from Tiglet that you need to ask for a parking permit when you stay at this hotel. It is free. I will attempt to add this to my booking through booking.com and see how I get on. Sprinter - You know you want to.
Thinking... cheers for all the imfo, Im working out all the tos and fros These last few posts have been a great help.
That’s correct. When I rang The Park Hotel to book my accommodation I spoke to a charming lady by the name of Ann and at the end of my booking she asked how was I traveling there and when I replied motor-sickle she said ok you’ll need a parking permit, it’s ok they’re free I don’t know if there’s a limited number of these passes or if you can get them on arrival, just know ones got my name on it
I emailed the hotel and the lovely Sabine has kindly offered to let me keep "das Motorrad in einem Innenhof abzustellen (mit verschliessbarem Rolltor)"
I've been in touch with the Park Hotel in Bad Bertrich to ask if I need a parking pass. This is their reply :- thank you for your booking and the interest at our hotel. You do not need passes for your motorbike. It ´s possible that you can park for free in our hotel. If you have any farther questions do not hesitate to contact us. With kind regards Anne Thomas Rezeption So that's different to what they told Tiglet. However, I can always show them this email.
I think you may need a pass for a car but probably not for a bike? (Although that dies conflict with the advice given to Dave) I was told that you couldn't reserve them in advance but that it was no problem getting one.
That’s the young lady that took my booking Andy and asked me how I was getting there and said “ Then you’ll need a parking permit”. Confused.com she must be related to Daniel
