Wayne - I can't seem to post pictures in the conversation section so I'll have to put them here. Bastogne War Museum - loads of good stuff in here and well presented - the "shitting yourself in a freezing foxhole whilst the Germans shoot at you experience" (probably not called that) is pretty good! Plenty of bike parking (that's my old T100) They even have a proper storage room for bike gear
My plan for the trip is as follows, On the 9th From Kilkenny to the Dublin ferry at 8am to Hollyhead, Then on to Hull to meet up for the evening ferry. On to Bad bertrich for the four days Then im off to Bastogne to the museums and stay over night . Saturday ride down to Dunkirk to the Beach before getting the ferry to Dover. Then ride to Tilbury to my mums place. A few days there then on to Seaton in Devon for two nights visiting friends, Then on to Wales and stay overnight in Fishguard with a biker buddy. Ferry in the morning to Ireland Home. Two weeks booked off so happy days
I stayed here earlier this year in Bastogne http://www.lemerceny.be/ Nice modern motel at a Q8 petrol station. Good general store, good breakfast and a couple of hundred metres walk into town. My wife liked it so it must have been OK. The other place we used near Bastogne, a B&B, she didn't like one bit.
Yes Steve, just his suit and sunglasses... And whenever you let him loose, he is not heading for Poland or Belgium but for the partition of my hard-drive. He‘s probably checking out my little collection of naked... ...bikes...

I just remembered I forgot to book the tunnel so I did it this morning. £78 return for bike, rider and pillion is good value in my opinion. As I’ve got the Mrs on the back we are taking a quite a relaxed approach so our itinerary is a set follows: 8 sept - stop in Maidstone 9 Sept - Eurotunnel the travel to Leige 10 Sept - Travel to Bad Bertrich stop 4 Nights 14 Sept - back to Leige 15 Sept - Eurotunnel the stop in Maidstone 16 Sept - Home
Yeah it is a bit of an uphill trek! Bar/restaurant by the car park gets busy as does the cafe bar in the castle.
My darling wife has just come back from shopping at Lakeside. She bought me this. I've had a quick flick through & it's quite useful. Comprehensive routes, things to do & see, includes accommodation recommendations. Route across German/ Austrian alps is calling me. Another thought, I know I'm unable to attend your trip this year due to prior commitments, but surely this kind purchase must give me a green light to plan an alternative
Just putting this out here for those who are traveling from Rotterdam, Would anyone be interested in visiting this place on the way to Bad Bertrich? https://www.landmarkscout.com/liberty-park-war-museum-overloon-netherlands/
