Andy, the maps looks good I've been able to have 30 mins this afternoon without the grandchildren so I got the maps out and without going into Castleton or Eyam I've come up with the following route from the A6187 at Hope. Right onto the B6049 through Bradwell Left through Great Hucklow. Left through Abney to Leadmill Right onto the B6001 to Grindleford Left onto the B6521 to Nether Padley for the Station Cafe. Right back onto the B6521. Left onto the B6001. Right onto the A625. Right onto the A623 towards Chapel-en-le-Frith. Left onto the B6049 through Tideswell and Millers Dale. Right onto the A6. Left onto the A5270. Straight across the A515 (dog leg) onto the B5053 to Longnor. Left at Longnor back to the Royal Oak. The route may get tweaked after I've ridden it, but I don't think it will be much if at all. I think the nearest petrol station to the Royal Oak is in Bakewell,,,,,,,,,,,,,look out for those tarts With regards to food if anyone wants a good breakfast then I'll take them to Yondermans and we'll return to the Royal Oak for the start of the rideout. We'll have to allow about 80-90 mins for the run to Yondermans and back and I'll have to fill up with fuel in Bakewell. Also apart from the stop at Padley Station Cafe it depends on what people want to do, I'll look for cafes when I ride the route, hopefully this Saturday, grandad wants some me time What time does everyone want the rideout to start, we've got all day to enjoy the bimble. Dave.
Ok chaps I've googleised the rest of Tigcraft's route(can you check it out Dave ?) The only bit I can't get on is the narrow lane between Great Hucklow and Abney, google will not allow me to use this lane as part of the route although the yellow man is quite happy to go there ?????????? So I've done it as two routes :- 1. https://goo.gl/maps/kXfr6GEUpmQ2 2. https://goo.gl/maps/3FoSkhsQmvn I'll try and ride this next week some time to familiarise myself with it and then do a ride out for the Thursday over the weekend immediately before the main event. Any brave fool, sorry volunteer want to do tail end charlie on the Thursday. You get to wear a bright yellow vest and eat all the bakewell tart you can at the cafe stop(subject to a whip round from forum members), limited lashes of course.
Andy, It's Tiglet not Tigcraft, who knows we may be cousins I think the road from Great Hucklow to Abney is a single Tarmac road and possible on to Leadmill also. Could I give you a phone call to discuss the route, if ok message me your phone number and the ideal day/time to call you. Dave.
What's happening when on this grand meet up (yes things like farting burbing, ride outs , chip eating, tart eating or tart chasing) times and days all the running order as I can only do one day
Well as far as I know the broad brush of the get-together is set, but there isn't, as far, as I'm aware a daily agenda as such. Several members have posted their mobile numbers for communications.
Tiglet has a ride-out planned for Wednesday leaving the Royal Oak at 10:00 am and I am planning a ride-out for Thursday which will leave a little earlier. Some people are eating in the RO Tuesday and Thursday evening.
