Whoo found my dream Thruxton R. Deposit paid. Aint seen it in person but given it’s from a Triumph main dealer not concerned about its condition. All hinges on how it feels to sit on and the test ride next Wed. Really excited and hope its more forgiving than the faired version handle bar height wise. Here are a couple of pics of the potential beast.
Fairly standard bike with the exception of the screen, unbaffled exhausts amd the extended lhs handle bar.
Can anyone advise if an alarm on the thruxton r is standard if so what it is

Hi and welcome, nice looking bike. Unless it was added when the bike was new I don't think an alarm is fitted as standard on the thruxton r. I don't have one on mine and to be honest I would not have an alarm on any of my bikes.

Traded my 900 Thruxton for the 1200R this summer. Loved the 900 and love the 1200 for different reasons. No alarm fitted but it does have a factory immobiliser as standard, don't know if this gets an insurance discount but worth mentioning to them. Enjoy your new bike when it arrives, hopefully you will get some dry weather.

Hi timboo, the alarms on all Triumphs are a factory extra, they have an immobiliser as standard. I have only dealt with Blade Triumph for parts, however I found them to be excellent to deal with. The dealer to avoid is Total Triumph, the MD Neil Mossman is nothing short of a crook, he has a poor history of previous failed business ventures as a car dealer, many people have lost money through him, his second hand machines are often not as described. Your potential purchase looks very nice indeed, hope everything goes ahead ok. Ride safe all

Cheers for the heads up. Hard to tell from the photo if it is a fob or the spare key. I will ask re the alarm.

Aint arriving just yet all depends upon my thoughts on the riding position during my test ride. I hope I love it otherwise I will be really upset.

Cheers alarms dont half drain the battery. Unconfirmed if it has one the photo is inconclusive. Aint a deal breaker for me either way as will put it on a trickle charger. Roll on Wed

Looks smart does that! I may be thick (don't answer that! ) but what is the purpose of the extended LH bar?

I wondered the exact same thing spend hours looking over many for sale and was still baffled there appears to be a grub screw.
An earlier reply suggested it could be for mounting a camera.

I have seen a few people adjust both left and right bars, some put on a mount for a GoPro, some to mount a sat nav, the one negative from doing so is it restricts the grip and feel of the clutch lever due to the bar end mirror in the way, in practical terms it makes the feel of the clutch slightly heavy to operate. Personally I would explore a different location for a camera mount, the sat nav mount is a little more tricky as you would preferably need to see the screen. Ride safe all.

That's a good looking bike, @timboo. I hope that it works out for you when you get to test it out. I had a 2016 Thruxton R and liked it a lot. Let us know if and when you bring it home!

Wow wow wow I’m in love. I’d actually trade in the wife for it The couple of inches in handle bar height makes all the difference it’s comfortable to ride. I have to say pearl white is stunning. I love everything about it. The only small niggle I found is that at very slow speeds going around small roundabouts relies upon careful clutch control as the gear ratio isnt perfect that will become second nature when I am back riding often again so no drama.
Handling wise it really feels so light so easy to flick around although I was very held back with limited protection on my legs. Thats another purchase at a later date.
Just waiting to sort payment then hopefully pull the trigger to complete payment. Divorce here I come
