Hi Boothy, your project bike looks, well................................GLORIOUS !! Absolutely beautiful, classy. A bit maybe in the paintwork like a Newchurch Big brother? Anyway, well done on a very successful project. We won't be seeing this one on Ebay advertised as "Project bike, all major bits done"
The Bonneville New Church range I think biglad means...there is a resemblance! The paint scheme is really cool!
Just bit of update, bike insured, MOT Booked for Friday, had a sneaky 10 mile run over weekend, handles loads better than thought it would !! still big hole at 4k where you really have to open throttle lots stuttering and picks up again. Fed up with playing around with needle heights and jets, going to give up and put on rolling road !!
Sounds like too much fuel it's the needles mate move the clip to the top notch and see how she is This might help https://www.princeton.edu/ssp/65-cub-data/library/amalbritbike.pdf
Bit of an update, had chat with guy who will be doing the RR Setup, he advised to turn the airscrews in 1/2 turn so as to richen the idle mixture up as understand the pilot jets stroke airscrew control upto 1/4 Throttle openings needle is from 1/4 to 3/4 and main jet after that. Tried it and did make a big difference, now only slight flat spot, going to try raising the needles one notch next and then balance carbs again.
Well had couple short rides out on it, re torqued all bolts up again, went out week last Tuesday, hit patch diesel and binned it, slid 20 yards down road on lhs !! gutted. Had insurance assesor out this week, looks like they will pay for parts and i can rebuild it. RHS Perfect lhs a mess although all cosmetic. Main thing is i walked away ok just a bit bruised and pride severely dented.
The Bike is fixable already got agreed this afternoon with assessor, happy with pay out. ordering bits as we speak, all lhs knackered tank needs painting, wheel spindle clip on, clutch cyl crankcase covers gear leve linkage CRK Subframe, exhaust, swing arm, both tyres. Will load some pics later for the ghoulish amongst you.lol
Boothy mate absolutely gutted to hear this news. Its so easily done with the roads the way that are these days. Just glad to hear you are ok and that the bike is only cosmetically damaged. Here's to round 2 - hopefully its a quick one and we syill get a chance to have a CRK meet up this year. Regards Jonathan
Gutted for you but glad bikes just cosmetic as what you have done is a great guide for people coming after you. Also good it's not your fault, that scenario can hit anyone, first ride or 30000 miles later. Keep the faith and well done.
