I like it - does have a Yamaha vibe to it though. Ian at CRK has done something similar ... Although i prefer the way you are following the tank line. I am also still battling with silencers and trying to see if i can source some Arrows that will fit. Ill let you know if i have any luck. Keep em coming
Yes please let me know what you do with exhaust, yes have to admit copied the CRK design to some degree. Will cover the whole tank and tail unit with paper and sketch on before finally deciding. TBH dont know what to do with the exhaust silencers at the moment
Yeah I was thinking of going solid colour and decals but think it does need something to accentuate the shape - I am still a long way off having to make that decision though I am doing quite a bit of research on silencers at the moment and will let you know if i find a good solution - may involve some new link pipes but think it will be worth it. I am just not keen on the ebay universal ones after all this effort on the bike. I do like the CRK ones but they are very shiny so would have to have them coated which makes them more expensive and thought there must be something else out there - will let you know what i find.
Ok Boothy, How do you feel about these ... They are for a GSXR 1000 and have 45mm inlets as opposed to 38mm but thats easily solved with either a link pipe or an adaptor like this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/45mm-to-3...ust-Reducer-Connector-Pipe-Tube-/131332296459) I have found an incredible deal on them - £240 for the pair which is the same price as the CRK Motad ones but bet you these would be much better. Unfortunately I am after the black ones and they are £360 but if you are keen i will see if i can do a package deal. Thoughts?
You not feeling it?? I have the guy holding a pair of each but only for today . Let me know if you are keen.
Hi there, had to bit of work this morning ! no i want something a bit smaller they look quite large, i am looking at baffling the silencers i have got at present as like the look of them
Evening all....... Bit of an update, exhausts off again while wait for new kick up link pipes, fitted some baffles to the silencers. All indicators, lights and electrical's working fine now, had to fit some ballast resistors to get LED Flashers to work. Fitted tank properly comes on and off now smoothly, not going to fill with fuel until after painting. Have brake lines to fit yet have some braided HEL items with red anodized fittings, should look good with red paint work (i hope). The rear seat pod will need some careful sanding to get a good fit so can see that being a few evenings and then hopefully get it fired up again next weekend with baffled silencers fitted.
Also do a search for "holographic hammer" in google images. He has done some really cool concepts like these ...
Thanks for those inspirational pics. Have ordered a pair of short reverse cone silencers off ebay in chrome hoping to keep the up-swept link pipes. Putting the other silencers on ebay. Update on the bike front have small oil leak which have tracked down to clutch slave cylinder push rod oil seal, have to drop oil to change it !! must be about the only seal i haven't changed. Fitted new HEL front brake pipes, seem a bit long ?? may have to send back get shortened. Still have rear brakes to do yet and fit rear seat unit as well as multitude of other little jobs, when exhausts arrive and get fitted will post some more pics.
No worries - hope the blank design pic helps with your colour scheme too. Fitting the HEL lines is on my list too and hope I don't have the same issue - I will have a check tomorrow eve and report back. Looking forward to more pics
It maybe because i have dropped the forks down the yolks a little further than standard although not convinced could do with about 100-150 mm off each front pipe otherwise big loops of braided hose. Have ordered some billet brake pipe clamps so when these turn up can install pipe properly the accurately measure how much needs taking off then contact HEL to see if they can alter, am sure they will.
Hi There. Got my new exhaust silencers fitted, really pleased with them, gave quick start up sound ace loud but not deafening put upswept link pipes on to give them a bit of a different look .... well upswept i guess !! . Fitted new slave cylinder as old one so rusty not worth re-furbishing ( note Triumph spares about £5 more for brand new than second hand off ebay). Got a billet brake reservoir of ebay, think result looks ok
Hi Boothy, Its really coming together mate and looking awesome. I spent a bit of time on mine last night too and have a question as by your pictures it seems you may have the problem i have. Although a tight fit I managed to get the tank seated but the problem came when working with the rear seat unit. I measured up and made the notches for the front to slide over the tank mount And followed the instructions by placing a spacer between the frame and the unit but the gap is then massive. I then removed the spacer completely and laid the bodywork directly onto the frame and this is what mine looks like ... In your pic I am not sure if yours is sitting on something but the gap looks similar so cutting it is definitely not going to make it fit better. Just wondering if I am maybe doing something wrong or if i have missed a trick somewhere? Cheers
h i yes, mine was similar to yours i put a couple of spacers 15mm and a weight on seat to keep level then measured up to start with say 10 mm all round remove to this level and gap starts to reduce. I am at point where will reduce size if spacer have used a detail sander to remove material
