Talking of early Skodas, a colleague bought one new in the early 70s - cheap as chips. He called his manager, who lived nearby, one morning to say it wouldn't start. The engine was completely shagged and the car was a write-off. BUT, he'd done over 100,000 miles in it, and never had it serviced - not once. He claimed he'd never even lifted the bonnet. We did high miles then, running a big territory, so the car wasn't very old.
!! Must have been thing with these, one of these knocked me off my push bike into a Hillman imp. Lost 6 teeth and bust my jaw in 2 places!! The $%$% never stopped.

Yes, and Brean Sands, but idiots keep ignoring the signs of where not to drive and get stuck, often losing the car to the tides!
