    Hmmm.

1 - It doesn’t need to be stored at -70
2 - It costs a fraction of the others
3 - It appears to work as well
4 - It seems to allow for a longer delay between first and second jabs

But otherwise it isn’t as good as “the others”...?

Yes all that is true. BUT :)
It's less effective (by between 10 to 20% regarding test reports), slower to adapt if new aggressive variant appears , slower to produce.
Moreover RNA can't be short on ingredient supply.

To answer about the source of information. it's the eminent Axel Kahn world class geneticist.
He is one of the knowledgeable about RNA and the hope is this technology, despite the exact cons you are pointing out.

Sure if my country vaccines with the viral one, it's fine. But at a longer timescale and at a larger scale, RNA seems a better answer.

I'm not a solicitor but I don't think its as simple as that. If it were the anti-eu mob would be all over it.

The Eu has now invoked article 16 of the Northern Ireland protocol. After all the hullabaloo from the Eu and “others”,the Eu has now imposed a hard border, talk about the hypocrisy of caring about the good Friday agreement?
And all because they’ve screwed up big time.
As I’ve already said, I can’t see this ending well for the Eu.

Wow Tom, that is so hypocritical of them, imposing a hard border between Ireland and NI after all the bleating about how important it was to respect the Good Friday Agreement.

    I’m stunned.

The RNA vaccines also need continuous booster jabs.

I find it very sad when they’re invoking it in a protectionist way for a vaccine that saves lives,it’s despicable as well as unbelievably stupid.
Interestingly,no mention of this on the BBC news......yet.

After last nights despotic behaviour by the Eu,I would like to acknowledge the fantastic work done by Kate Bingham and the vaccine task force (VTF).
With only a small group she has managed to achieve more than a Government department could,in very little time.
Tonight we’ll be raising a glass to Kate.

Well said Tom. She herself has also credited the UK pharma industry, which had already made a lot of progress off its own bat without any government funding in getting ready to manufacture at scale even before the VTF was created.

367 million doses, even 2 each is only 130 million at the most, Begs the question why do we need all that then?

Because when we bought them we didn’t know whether or not each vaccine would work. So we hedged our bets.

if, as seems likely, we have more than we need we can and will give them to others.

They won’t all be delivered at the same time.

Who knows we may all need a top up or 2 jabs a year to stay reasonably protected.

It’s difficult to understand the logic of the Eu,on the one hand they appear to want the AstraZeneca vaccine and on the other they’re slagging it off.
For this organisation to behave so poorly, clearly suggests they have major underlying problems which need to be sorted quickly.
We really don’t want anymore breathtakingly idiotic behaviour, like yesterday, and I hope they have learnt a salutary lesson but I fear their arrogance and egos will get the better of them sooner or later.
