After meeting up with the Three Trumpeteers that I was supposed to have met up in France in June. I was reminded that I hadn't posted what I did end up doing. So here it is in brief.

I finally caught up with them at our bike lodge meeting today. I missed the French trip due to late in the day work commitments. Anyhow we have set plans for more next year.

What I did end up doing was scooting up to Scottyland (hame) on the promise of a gander at my cousin's whisky cask. However that ended up being moved to Glasgow but we did have dinner at Dyce Farm Carvery. I admit to being a regular there, when in town, and it has contributed to the extra inches I am working to lose.

I camped out at Perth a few days to basically do nothing which was efficiently achieved.
I did have a nice chat with a couple of blokes riding end to end of the Isle on cycles who had camped next to me, and then a biker from the Netherlands who was happy to share an indistinct bottle of red something or other.

I knew I had to head south but I wasn't quite ready for the return quite yet so after meeting up with some Italian bikers just south of Edinburgh I decided to visit the Lakes, not having been there for some years.

The Lakes were pretty busy but a kind gentleman let me pitch in Kendal. Were a stayed a few days and pottered about the byways. Guess who was in the next pitch? yup it was the cyclists, how we laughed...

I had a go on a steam train and headed home.

It only rained twice the whole week.

Your trip sounds delightful, @MoreT! Lots of meandering, exploring, and meeting folks. Thanks for sharing your travels. Say, what are those black saddlebags on your bike? They look suspiciously like my Harley saddlebags.

I think they’re panniers as opposed to bags. I’ve even seen similar boxes on old BMWs.

Thanks, @Eldon and @MoreT! I still think those panniers look like these “saddlebags”. This is my hubby’s a Harley Road Glide. IMG_6125.jpeg

    Nice Ride

That's because they are Harley Bags. though an earlier model. I had the same on my Road King and I like em, I did do some mods though...

As per Saddlebags or Panniers I think that's a Trans Atlantic thing. To us Brits a bag is something flexible hence hard-bags are called Panniers. In the US you call this type of bike a Bagger.
    its just Pot-ay-toe Pot-aah-toe....

I thought I recognized those bags, @MoreT! Love how you did the mods to use those bags. I also appreciate the Brit version of "bags" vs. "panniers". Yep, we do call this type of bike a Bagger in the U.S.. :)
