Here’s the tank off the bonnie. I’ve been told to keep it original and not paint it but it looks a bit tired. Any advise please :)

If you must paint it then follow its true colours and pin lines but agree with others only needs a good rub and polish to look good and more than that it'll be completely original paintwork

If the condition of the tank is similar to that of the rest of the bike then I would leave it alone. Making it look like new will make the rest of the bike look a bit shabby and you will then be wanting/needing to spend many of your £s to make the bike look pretty much 'as new'.
If you can find the time/money/knowhow etc to do it all then do it. If not just ride it and enjoy it.
A 1970 Bonneville, to which that tank colour scheme belongs, will always fetch strong money, especially if it runs well, even if its outward appearance could be improved.

Could you rephrase this post please?:worried:
The voices in my head are having a bloody field day with it and I may not be able to resist for too much longer.
All will say is that your personal life is none of my (or anyone else's on here for that matter) business.
    I must go now.

NURSEY ..... I NEED MY MEDS. QUICKLY PLEASE !!!!!:cold_sweat:

I’d paint the sides and ‘age’ it but that Takes a lot of skill to get the ‘patina’ just right but then it’s my thing.

Might have a pootle down when I’ve had a bit more practice
:joy::joy: i inherited it from my dad, and just using it to get experience until I pass my big bike test by which time the bonnie should be restored and I can get my credibility back :D

I'd just give the paint a very light cut and spray a new coat of clear over the original paint. You'd get the best of both possible out comes. Good looking originality and good protection against the elements ! It will last in all weather's and not rust, keeping most of it's original paint and patina !!

Nice UK T120 tank, not a popular colourway at the time so quite rare these days :)
