    Hello !

I ran out of petrol on my Bonneville EFI 2007, and then I could not start the bike, even after filling it with petrol.
I checked the fuses, put a new battery, connected the solenoid with a screwdriver and it looks like it cranks but not.. When I press the starter, I can only hear a click.
    Any guess ?

    Many thanks..

First place I would start is the battery. If you have a multimeter you can check the voltage across the terminals - it should be at 12.6 volts minimum.

In any case put it on charge overnight then you'll know it should turn over.

    Hi mate and welcome
I had the same problem with my speedmaster after playing about with the electrics
Turns out I had run the battery down
Only slightly but enough to cause the same symptoms as you describe
If you have a suitable charger then charge the battery
Unlike other bikes that might only need 11ish volts to start
These efi triumphs need about 12.6 volts otherwise computer says no!
I've read somewhere that it's a bad idea to jump start these bikes as the ECU doesn't like it
I charged my battery overnight and it started first time
Good luck and let us know how you get on

I bought a new battery and tested it, 12.8 V and I still could not start..

    Hi mate
    Is it cranking over?
    Yes---then it's probably fuel!
Could it have an air lock?

    No---then it'll be electrical
Can you remove a spark plug to check if it's wet?

Do you have or can you borrow an OBD reader?
If so plug it in and clear codes!

No its not cranking over... I tested the HT lead with another spark plug, and no spark ! on each side !
I cannot remove the sparkplug, dont have the right tool, mine is too big and not enough space..
I have the TUNE ECu cable, is it the same as the obd reader ?

Right mate it's not cranking over!
    It's electrical for sure!
You won't get a spark until the engine is cranking
I don't have the TUNE ECU cable myself
    Not yet anyway
I'm assuming you have downloaded the program onto your laptop or something
Perhaps plugging this into your bike might show faults and allow you to clear them?
    I'm not sure

Like I said mate I don't have this myself so I don't know how to read it myself Sorry

If you can borrow a reader and plug it into your bike it should show faults and give you the option to clear them
You can get them on eBay for about £20

You might of just sussed it mate!
Put the battery on charge overnight
Make yourself a cuppa or something relax and try it in the morning
Like I said earlier I don't think these efi triumphs like to be jump started summit to do with the ECU

Check out the starter motor armature , it's located behind the L/H side panel.
My 2012 Bonnie does exactly the same 'Click' and it is usually if the battery is ever so slightly down on charge.
The EFIs are very sensitive which I hate! Lights fully on but the engine won't turn Aargh!
If the armature contacts are made it will override the ECU and turn the engine over.
Never had any bother bump starting when I get that annoying click, might be worth trying if you have a hill nearby or a healthy mate to push.

While my battery was charging, I tried to connect the two terminals of the starter relay socket, and when I pressed the starter, it started cranking ! So my starter relay is dead ? I will try with a new battery as soon as it's charged..

Is the pump priming? Are you getting a whining noise when you turn on ignition?
