Bad news. Hard to lift the bobber. Would not even look at the speedmaster so its going back. If anybody has a suggestion for this please let me know. Mark
I was having the same problem with my Speedmaster so I've got one of these. A bit pricey but works a treat and solid as a rock. Works for back and front wheels. https://on-bike.com/product/harley-davidson-motorcycle-lift-strongarm/
This is the solution :- https://www.1jac.com/ ..... the problem thus created is merely one of affordability! I've got the jacks for the two Street Triples and they are the mutt's dangly bits - far better than the German or Chinese copies - trust me, I know this. But they ARE, undoubtedly, expensive. I can advise on how to get a small discount if you're interested. Regards, Adie
Hi Beerman I am now looking at a cruiser stand. Motorcycle Custom Bike Lift ConStands black Stand on Ebay German made so hopefully will do the job.I have emailed them and waiting a reply. Will let you know Mark
I have to say that my personal experience with the Constands bike lift was not exactly a good one. You may find that the Constands lift is not actually manufactured in Germany but is sourced from the far east, so it's worth asking them the question in case the custom bike lift is different. Good enough, they did take it back and refund my money - less postage both ways, which wasn't cheap - but it was a hard-learned lesson. Caveat emptor, as they say. Regards, Adie
HI Beerman Tried my TECH 7 stand I use for my street triple using a block of wood as per your suggestion and it worked fine so I will probably get another one ready for storing in the winter Mark
Thanks for the warning. I hope NUDGER was not damaged. I have had that very same lift for about a year. I used it 2 or 3 times without incident on the 800+ pound cruiser that I used to have. I think I will try your mod, lift the bike, but then rest the weight of the Speedmaster on something else similar to car jack stands while I work on it. At least, as you say, that's the plan.
On youtube Stuart Fillingham did a review on one for the bobber that I'm sure will work on the new speedmaster. It has the same lower bobbin mounting holes 8m.
I have used the LiftMaster 1100 LB Motorcycle Center Scissor Lift Jack with Safety Pin for two years now with no problems. So is the size of the bobbins on a 2018 speedmaster 8mm?
Yes 8mm. I bought a $39.00 US paddock stand and the rg racing bobbins and it works pretty good on my 2018 speedy.
I must be doing something wrong. I have a paddock stand and the larger-type bobbins but I can't get enough leverage or exert enough downward force on the handle to get my rear tire off the ground at all. I may have to resort to using my own LiftMaster 1100 LB Motorcycle Center Scissor Lift Jack with Safety Pin that I used to use on an old Yamaha touring bike.
I purchased one of these and it works https://www.harborfreight.com/autom...rofile-rear-motorcycle-spool-stand-99701.html $42 US I had a 20% off, still like my Motorcycle Center Scissor Lift Jack better. I hold the rear rail and the top of the lift and push down. I haven't had a problem
