Just one word about this for @Samuel F , you put your feet into the carrier bags first then do your boots up as normal. Outside of your boots get wet but there's no risk then of a plastic bag touching a hot casing or exhaust. Also your feet are less likely to slip off the pegs. I always carry a couple on long journeys in case it starts to chuck it down. Down side if it's warm your feet are going to sweat like mad.
