I'm on a mission to do the same thing - get in from the other end and leave the baffle in place (for now) Yesterday, I ordered a dome-ended tungsten carbide cutting burr - like this: It's 150mm long, so will easily reach that pesky disc inside the can, and the ball tip is just under 10mm wide and suitable for cutting hard metals like stainless steel. The disc is concave and welded all around the circumference, to the very end of the inner exhaust tube - so the weld sits proud of the disc surface. My plan is to grind the weld away, expecting that the disc will simply drop out leaving the end of the tube, which should clean up neatly. I guess we'll see
Seems like a good idea! I found 25mm to be perfect. Its loud but not to much We used a regular powertool with 25mm drill made for steel. Took all about 45 minutes
It sounds like a plan lol, I run mine with the baffle pipes in and with the disc gone the sounds perfect. I did an 80 mile ride in the sunshine the other night over woodhead pass to Sheffield and back over the snake pa's via the straines Road, great ride with over run pops and bangs and a great sound track with the quickshifter doing its thing upto 8000 revs now and it was brilliant. That silly disc which is some euro 4 thing is a pain but gone it's perfect. You don't need to remove the baffles for a sound track
I'm encouraged that you think it makes a positive difference to the sound - and it keeps it looking standard from the other end. In from the behind, is the way forward
It was you that inspired me to forget the baffle and focus on the disc...I can't stand the thought of that 5mm hole, blocking out all the fun. I've never ridden Snakes Pass, only driven - that has to be an amazing road to put your Speed Triple on. I'm up to 8,000 rpm too - every 1,000 rpm that's been 'released' has made a massive difference...and there's still another 2,500 to go
haha yes! It was your post that made me think why do i need to take the baffles out when you ended up putting them back in
It's like a new toy each time you get another 1000 revs, great fun. Have a look on Google earth at the route woodhead pass from Glossop, then before you get to Sheffield on the right there is a brilliant road to Strines I think that's how it's spelt, great pub there for a cuppa on route then that joins the snake pass, in this weather its brilliant, we are going Wednesday night to do it all again
The Strines road was resurfaced a couple of years ago for the Yorkshire stage of the tour de France, you wouldn't want to have ridden it before then, surface was crap, really bumpy, 45mph would have you bouncing out of the seat! Now it's good for a bit more than that in the right places. Trouble is, now the surface is better it's attracted loads of MAMIL's, or as dilli calls them "TWATS"
I have some fantastic Essex roads on my doorstep, but they can't compete with that - roll on Wednesday!
Depends on your destination but I sometimes turn right half way over and head towards Bolsterstone coming out in Deepcar. That's also nicely surfaced.
True I will maybe have a look on Wednesday, 3 of us are going a daytona and a 600rr to keep me company
Are the discs only in the twin cans, as all posts seem to refer to them? I've the Arrow low boy full system and have pit a wooden fowl down the baffle and there is no further restriction, and I'm happy with the sound as it is with baffel in!
The discs are only found in the 2018 RS under-seat Arrow cans - and don't exist in the earlier exhausts. There's no Low Boy for the 2018 and the earlier version isn't compatible.
