Baffle removal

    And another thing, was the circular disk at the end of the pipe or inside? :)

    Where about's was the circular disc? once you grind the end to split the baffle will the baffle pull out or do you have to break the welds from the other end of the pipe ie where it connects to the rest of the system?

    Hi, sorry if I’m not being clear guys, I’ve drawn a very crude pic, the baffle will just pull out, and to be fair you probably could stop there, however the end of the inner baffle sits up flush against this metal disk which is spot welded to the inside of the can. To remove it we simple placed a large long metal chisel down the inside from the carbon end and knocked it out.

    But like I say you wouldn’t actually need to remove that. And it would open the can up plenty!!! However mine now has a huge hole all the way to the cat!! And you do not need to remove the cat because you will not gain any more noise. If you did desire to remove that for power reasons, it would probably require a hilltop remap and you have to be careful about fitting a custom link pipe because it could effect the warranty from triumph when you remove the cat.

    Yes i did! :) Got it from their webshop. Took 4-5 days to arrive here in Norway.

    Just tried to do
    My rs today the carbon end cap is glued in as well as rivited so would not remove ffs
    Sooo
    Took a dremmel to the weld on the end off the can can tap the baffrl back in slightly but will it hell as come out ended up replacing with it still in for now think you maybe have to strip the exhaust tube to get it out

    I removed my baffles today on my new rs. The end cap has a black glue like stuff but if you use a screwdriver you can tease it forward the glue is like rubber it pulls it back. I used pushbike tyre levers to tease them off. Then the fun started I had to dremel cut 5 mm off each pipe before I could see a line. I then used a scissor jack handle down the pipe, the hook clipped over the end (inside) of the baffle then I pulled the baffle out with the t bar handle with a bit of help from a lump hammer. I've made the baffle so they re fit with self tapping hex nuts in case I do a track day. The big issue is the ridiculous disc welded in the can just after the baffle with a 5 mm hole in the middle. A 2ft chisel and lump hammer and 2hrs later they are both out. The sound with it open is seriously loud, the sound with baffles in with the new removable screws but the disc gone is really nice, loud but not booming at tick over, but a really nice sound when on the road as the silly restriction plate has gone so it's a clear pipe.

    Looks like my low boy has no 5mm restrictor disk in it, is that correct?

    I don't know my bike is the new rs with twin Arrows and the disc was a pain the second one on the other pipe was easier as I'd worked out how to remove it better. The disc has a 5mm hole in it, which is like sticking a Cork half way down the pipe, massive difference with it out! A few blooded fingers and cups of tea later I don't mind how hard it was now

    Beautiful :D i cant wait to do that on mine. The first service is on wednesday, this will be the first thing i'l do after that.

    Got mine done yesterday!! :D

    I did not take the baffles out, but used a drill from the backside of the cans. Started with a 10m drill and made the hole bigger and bigger. Found this to be a lot easier that taking the baffles out.

    Ended up on about 25mm where i found the sound to be perfect. :)
    It now pops and bangs like it should. None notisable difference in performance
