Found this gem tucked into the battery box. Any idea what it is/is for? 2004 Daytona 955i, viewed from right hand side when sitting on the bike (viewed from road side, not pavement side). Looks like a complete hack to me (being an old electronics chappie!) but probably important! (Excuse the messy bike, in the process of a spring clean!)
It's part of the bikes wiring loom,. It's there in preparation for an alarm immobiliser. When not fitted the bridging wires are in place to make the engine run.
Thanks, it is indeed where an ex-immobiliser would have sat. Seems "pins 1&2 and 3&5 need to be joined plus replace the original spade connector on the starter soleniod." is what would have been done. Cheers for the suggestion!
Marekb Yes alought it's been answered. That's your alarm bypass plug. You can buy a Datatool 3 alarm and plug it straight in there. Has to be the Triumph version Regards Joe
Bs1948 Never had a problem with my Datatool. Rather that than some mongrel pushing my bike down the road. I find mine easy enough to arm disarm. And they may not get much discount on you policy. But I bet they will make the difference to any pay out if not fitted.. But each to there own. But Marek you can't remove the plug unless you have something to replace it with as it is a link in the system. Regards Joe.
Bs1948 Yes you're right I sit in my garden some times and all you hear is car alarms. So probably they wouldn't make much difference as people are sick of hearing them. But I suppose I keep my bikes in the garage so have the tickle chargers plugged in most of the time. And when they go wrong they are a pain for some people. Ride Free Joe.
Cheers Joe, also very helpful. Not sure how useful an alarm is (vs annoyingness potential) but will look into it.
OK, this is interesting. I've got a Tiger 955i and the immobiliser keeps cutting in when I'm bloody mobile, not great in the M6. I've bought the bypass from triumph. Question is, how do I fit it without actually setting the alarm off. Is there a sequence?
