......no, not Covid 19. I refer to the virus that's rammed down all our throats in every walk of life...ADVERTISING!!!!. Everywhere you look, everything you click on has advertising. Youtube especially is infested with it, even this site has advertising pop ups and don't even think about going to the website of a tabloid newspaper or glossy magazine. It does my feckin head in.

    Notice to advertisers.......

I'M NOT INTERESTED IN BUYING ANY OF YOUR SHITE!!

    Thank you.......

    ......I feel better now :)

Now this is a rant I can really get behind. On the internet everything comes with one or more ads. Remember when you could watch a bike review without three ads?

But it's not just the net. For years I've had my taxes done by a well known tax preparation company here in the U.S.. This year beginning in January they started calling, emaiing and leaving voice mail's asking me to call and set up an appointment. After about thirty (no kidding) I called them and said if they called one more time I would come to their office and pee in their coffee. They stopped. Then I went elsewhere.

Yes it’s a pain, I find Facebook one of the worst, though after changing my address to one in Papua New Guinea I don’t get as many as I did.

I pay £5 per year to subscribe to this forum so don’t get any adverts here at all. Well worth it and of course it supports the forum.

    Pegscraper,
For a few coppers you can buy your way out of seeing adverts on this site.
    Also helps run the forum.
    Cheers,Ken.

I fully agree. Bloody hate all the ads. It drives me mad. Facebook now seem to insert an ad in between every post.
YouTube is another shit show, however I’m using a browser called Brave. This removes all ads from YouTube and other sites too. I found it has saved my sanity.
Another pet hate are YouTube channels who have been sponsored by companies that have nothing whatsoever to do with the channel. I just zip past them so that shite is wasted on me.
Give Brave a try, it works quite well. (I use it on my iPad).

Some sites won’t load if it detects you’re using an ad blocker

I personally try to keep browser add-ons to an absolute minimum... they just slow everything down in my experience.

That’s the good thing about Brave it’s not an add on, it’s a Browser (I’m not on commission by the way ;))

Yeah I might try it. I was referring to these add blockers. My internet is pretty slow and any add-ons really have a noticeable effect on my browser speed. I dont trust them either, god knows what there doing or who there sending info to in the background

Hate ads as well. Hate it even more when they have nothing to do with the site I’m interested in.
