    Thanks Callumity

I've already read that and other books, have watched lots of YouTube etc. I know I'll need to be careful on the old throttle and like to think I have the judgement to get into it progressively.

    Time will tell I guess!

Welcome to the forum, Martin. An excellent choice of bike; I picked up my first ST R, of 2016 vintage, a few weeks back and love it. As others have said, go easy on the throttle and learn to identify all potential road hazards. The motor offers a lovely linear power delivery with no sudden “power band hits”, but the torque is enormous in any gear....so just be nice and gentle on the throttle until you are more experienced (and wise). Enjoy!

Good on you. I just know I still occasionally need to throttle back with half the oomph at the handlebar and twice the years. Experience takes time to accumulate while wisdom can depart in seconds!

Welcome to the wonderful world of bikes in general and this mad house in particular. My only advice would be trust your tyres - they tend to be better than most riders. You can tighten up in a bend to a ridiculous angle of lean and they won't let go - there are hero blobs on your footpegs for a reason. Oh, and this does not apply in the presence of diesel.

    Wilkommen from Teutonia, mate!

There‘s one thing, I thought about while reading your introduction: in almost all the shitty situations I got myself into on a motorcycle or fast car, beforehand there was a little voice in the back of my head, which I ignored...
    So: Don‘t ignore it!

Have great fun on your new beauty!

    Cheers, Daniel

Not mad at all, I started riding again 10 years ago after a long break, took my CBT followed straight away by my big bike license. Two weeks before my test I bought a 2000 S3 955i. Took a little while to get used to but it was great, now have a 2011 Speedmaster. Love triumphs!

That is quite a step up in performance! Try to keep the added power from becoming to intoxicating. As for the cans, try to not irritate your neighbors and cage drivers. Remember it is not "us against them." We need to be ambassadors on occasion. Those cages are bigger than us.

I've done my first day of the DAS on a Suzuki Gladius 650.

Really good to ride, and found a bigger bike much easier to control doing the slow riding

I had the mod 2 today and passed with 2 riding faults. Very happy with that result, so I went straight from the instructors to the dealer to get my Street Triple R. Its not intimidating at all, I love it ! IMG_20191107_150639.jpg
