I commute into London and need to be heard, I think a 'polite' blap of the exhaust is better than the horn...I am installing an air horn, the R&G mini bomb split system so that will be a bit much for tooting at someone to look before walking across the road in front of me.
In what way do they look cheap and unfinished Jonesy? Do you mean the overall look of the rear, with an empty space under the seat, or are you referring to the exhaust itself? I'd choose the S1 because I really like the way it doesn't extend across the wheel too far...and I'm OK with the sound
No - I have the twin arrows, fitted by the dealer when I bought the bike. I keep considering a change to an S1...which is why I'm wondering what's cheap and ugly about it. The feature that I love about the Speed Triple is the open rear wheel - and the S1 doesn't block the view as much as some of the others. It sounds incredible too, if you like loud What stops me changing (apart from the extra cash) is that the twin cans look amazing too...and I think they define the Speed Triple as such. Decisions...decisions.
Yeah this is the only video I have found with the S1 which sounds mental, shame there isn't a baffle you can buy because I know the other S1 exhaust don't sound and come with a baffle except the Speed, I just like the back end with the exhaust low down, like the twin exhausts too but just prefere the low ones. I was considering maybe a scorpion taper but looking at their dyno graph there is no gains until you reach the top end.
I was referring to the finish but now thinking I've either seen a damaged or home modified one as in these photos they look great. I stand corrected !
The low pipe helps with weight savings and improves handling by lowering center of gravity. The sound of my SC Projects low mount titanium can with baffle out is phenomenal when unleashed.
Sounds good to me, you don't have a video of yours with the baffel out? What's it like at lower speeds and idle?
^ Sorry I do not have a video of it for sound check. Nice and mellow at idle and low RPM yet she sings like an opera star when you give it the hash. I left the baffle in for all of a 10 minute run and pulled it after that. No difference in idle or throttle response with baffle out and plug colors look good on all 3 cylinders. You will need some "C" clamp pliers (can not recall the correct name for the pretensioned metal ring that holds baffle cone in place) to remove your baffle (tighten the "C" and pull it off). Enjoy .
That's good to hear - the SC cans in the photos that I've seen on here look amazing quality. I've not seen a low one in the flesh though. Got to resist Mmmm...very nice choice of words there...phenomenal...unleashed (The like button has disappeared, so I've had to choose an alternative)
^ The "Like" button has gone invisible but is still to the left of the green check mark. Anyways, always loved the song of the triple when it is in full howl....nothing like it.
Ha ha - I found the invisible like button after I'd said it had gone. At least it keeps us on our toes
I still haven't taken the plunge, for two reasons. First I can't make my mind up which one I want. Second, every time I ride it, the original exhaust sounds ok.
