@stinger, I did suggest avoiding freeways to @Jamesian21 in my response to him yesterday. I really dislike (and that's a nice way to put it) freeways! I was a bit surprised no one else said to avoid "the slab" as some in the U.S. call it.

I guess the one thing I didn't see come up that I'd suggest is to find routes that are "off the beaten path" (i.e. NOT the freeway at 80+mph!). My hubby and our riding buddies and I avoid freeways when at all possible for many reasons including big rig trucks, wind, and (mostly) the fact that backroads are generally far more interesting in terms of landscape, roads, and things to see and people to meet.

As the speed increases simply scoot your butt back on the seat a little to increase the lean of your body against the wind.

Don't overthink it - just get out and ride. Take breaks once in a while and enjoy. Not rocket science.

You mentioned a new windscreen. Looking at the picture of your bike the windscreen is probably as big as you want to go - any bigger and you'll probably get wind turbulence and buffeting which makes it much more tiring than no windscreen at all. Small windscreens are usually good, medium size windscreens almost always suck, and big ones sometimes suck in different ways unless they're well engineered as part of a touring bike fairing. With a small enough screen you'll still get clean smooth air around the helmet - it's worth some of the disadvantages. We're on motorcycles here - not a car.

Probably better riding in MO than most of Texas.
