Made the same decision.... After 15+ years on all sorts of 1000cc sports bike, I decided to take a step back and think about the sort of riding I do etc. The last 1000cc was R1, sold it bought me a 2014 Street Triple 675 R ABS. I bought this bike in December 2017 and honestly say.... Never a dull moment. Sometimes I do miss the arm wrenching torque of the 1000cc but when I look at the comfort, looks, handling, sound....oh mate.... Street Triple is defo a keeper for sure. Now I could ride for miles and then walk around with a big smile. I have set up and upgraded the bike with accessories to my very personal taste.
Best of both worlds with my ride....the sprint gt was specifically made for a more upright style and an aggressive sport feel all in one bike, I will admit the feel and style are more forward than a sit upright bike. But my wrists have fared well to this point......course I have yet to put a full riding season on it yet......bought in october.
