Featured A Bandit For My Sister

My sweet sisters have been driving bikes since young but never owned one.
She has always been involved with horses, the problem with having a animal is you can never take a day off and boy they need time, a lot of time..
Now for first time since she’s a small girl she has no horse and time for other things in life, So I’m building her a iron horse!

I found her a nice and cheep Suzuki Bandit 400 to begin with!

 

As the fuel tank don’t line up with the chassis once the bike is “naked” I had to change the subframe a bit making a new one.

 

Next step was painting the chassis deal green met, As green her favourite colour.

 

Bike went together again slowly, The deal I have with my sister is that she have to do big part of the work, She’s very handy lady as she use to make antique furniture restorations so this is more or less the same...

As we eliminated the air filter box we found space for the battery and electrical components under the fuel tank

 

In this pics it’s more easy view how the chassis lines up with the fuel tank and coming seat.

 

Then the seat section arrived from India after a long waiting, I’m still adapting this to the bike but it’s coming in to it’s place slowly.
This is how this bike stands at the moment, This is long time project as I’m involved converting a 12mtr tourist bus into a living space for my sister at this moment....
And that is lot bigger project

 

I don’t have much time this days for the bikes, but I escaped a couple hours this afternoon and beguin making new supports for the front and rear mudguards, there still fitting to do but taking shape

 

I've been playing with what muffler, where and how this afternoon.
I tried first a couple Vance & Hines from a HArley first.

 

Then I saw the light...

 

I have a couple LAser from a Fazer laying in a dusty corner..
(Manny dusty corners in my basement )

 

I still need to make the plumbing and place them in correct place but I feel satisfied

 

The fuel tank will be in chrome with a leather strap on this and the cowl, That's how she wants it after many proposals
