Hey, I have a question about my ECU in my 2021 Street Triple S 660. I want to get derestricted tune but my guy is saying that this ECU is different than most 660/675/765 and has different chip Keihin RH850 instead of SH72531. I thought that they stopped putting RH850 like ages ago. But even if its there (see part number and stickers on ECU) could he use tuneecu or tunebuy like with any other Triumph? Cheers
Triumph are making it more and more difficult to access the ECU with different chips, the standard Tuneecu and Tuneboy will not re programme the ECU, however there are a couple of companies that can do the work such as Woolich Racing. Woolich Racing Tuned (WRT) Software
I did download TuneECU and got the licence and while I havent changed anything I got access to everything whats on the app. You reckon thats normal and I wont be able to change anything? Oh Ive changed service light interval if thats making any difference. Thanks
You mentioned in your post you wanted to de restrict your ECU (re map), therefore you will require it being set up by a specialist company, yes you can do all manner of service functions and re sets with the TuneECU, that is easily done and straightforward, the service light re set is simple to do, as is the opening of the ABS pump valves to effect correct brake fluid changes, TPS, throttle body balance etc etc is easy to do, what isn't is the ECU re programming, also when this is done a reading of the current ECU is essential if issues occur and the you have to return the ECU back to factory settings.
But you can change maps using TuneECU, all of them, ignition, fuel and throttle. I have this option on my phone and can easily do it. Also my tuner has all equipment and dyno, etc... just wasnt sure what chip is in my ECU as apparently there is big difference between them. Thanks
There is a huge difference between them yes, that is why I mentioned Woolich Racing, your tuner can purchase the software map direct from them, many tuning companies have been struggling re mapping Triumph ECUs due to Triumph making it more difficult to do, Woolich have devised maps for a number of the newer Triumph models, they have completed hours and hours of development to re programme these road machines, if racing a bike then it is a lot more straightforward (although very expensive to do). For road use it is better to fit the Rapid Bike Evo as this costs about the same as having the ECU re mapped and machine set up on a rolling road, the RBE is a plug and play unit, it smothers out the throttle response whilst making the required fuel changes etc, also it can be removed and re fitted if changing machines.
Hi, I recently de restricted my street 660 and I can assure you you can use tuneecu, only thing is that you need to purchase the "de restricting kit" since the street has two restrictions, one to the throttle and one to the ecu.
To see which map is right for your bike you must see with what number your VIN ends, example: my bike's VIN finishes with a 9972, so I will upload a map for VIN 97562 or superior. Also, remember that tuneecu has an internal database with all the OEM maps, so no need to go to a tuner.
