I'm with Carole Nash, mostly because I had renewed at the start of March with my 2011 Speedy. They covered me, though the premium increased from £220 to £465... Loving the bike though. Now have just under 300 miles on, looking forward to being to wind it up to 6k.... T
I'm sure you didn't figure on needing to double the premium My renewal fell 10 days after picking the RS up. After several calls, Hastings (to their credit) did agree to do a change of bike and covered me free of charge, with a manual cover note until the policy expired. The insurance has been the only negative with this bike - but at least it feels worth paying the extra for...and mini-summer (maybe our entire summer) should arrive for the weekend. Got to improve on my 115 miles
I was lucky with my insurance, in that they only charged £49 extra, as it's only got 3 months left to run. Hopefully it'll have settled down a bit by renewal time and be a reasonable amount.....
To be fair Hastings have been good, because they can't insure me they aren't going to charge me an admin fee to cancel so will end up getting most of my money back.
So for my piece of mind, I assume because the quick shifter is an extra on the Speed you have to declare it as a modification? Only asking as on my Street RS it was standard so didn't get mentioned, although I did tell them about the legal Arrow can.
That is correct Bad Billy They don’t appear to like any form of modification...performance enhancer or not.
I did check the quote against Go Compare, and got found only 3 other providers offering quotes. Only one of those was lower than Carole Nash, the difference was not worth moving for. I've not had the "shift assist" added. Couldn't get a discount for the tracker either. Which stinks as the ABI's own stats says a vehicle with a tracker is 85% more lightly to be recovered within 48 hours than a vehicle without. Loving the bike though, just over 300 miles up, 6,000 rpms and sports mode is just grin inducing T
Very similar experience on The Bike Insurer comparison site - two quotes at £1,580 and one at around £800. I called The Bike Insurer and their attitude was appalling. I've earned 5,000 rpm and haven't tried Sports mode yet (I'm saving it for later ). The Shift Assist is surprising smooth and loads of fun...even with limited revs.
Had a nice surprise today, the dealership phoned to say the rs was ready to collect 24 hrs early......so I've done 85 miles already and hate staying below 3500 rpm!
That’s a fantastic surprise - and what a day for it! I unlocked the Level 2, 5,000 rpm bonus at 90 miles, so you’re very close to a completely different dynamic.
