Just received this from Triumph. Bloody ridiculous. Next bike for me, back to Honda. UK Aftersales Cases 17:05 (11 minutes ago) to me Dear Mr McManus. Thank you for your enquiry. I can confirm that the chain adjustment that is available on your model, should be sufficient to last for the expected service life of the final drive chain, Triumph would expect that to be 10 - 12 thousand miles. If you have any further concern regarding this matter, please contact your local Triumph dealer. Best regards Pete Triumph GB. Geoff.
It was an idle threat, I love the T100 with a passion. I will go down the same route as Alectron and fit a decent chain. Geoff.
Yup that's about it. Same stock reply. Another reason to do it your way! 10 to 12k is just ridiculous! Good man Geoff, you won't regret it!
Company's called Bike Torque Racing. Look for the DID Gold x ring chain and AHF sprocket set for the T120. It cost me about £90 inc delivery in uk and took just 2 days. Hope that helps
Search Amazon DID ZVMX and the size of chain you are after Sort by lowest price and you may be amazed At the moment they have a DID ZVMX 530 for £5.27 as an add on available in a obout a month!!! Someone has cocked up but go for it Not he first time either I got two chains ZVMX super heavy duty for £33 each a couple of months ago
Norton did, 76 Commando had from the factory, chocolate camshaft, porous cylinder head, cam followers still full of casting sand. It sounded like a bucket of locusts having sex, very loudly, less than two hundred miles, no wonder they took it back very quickly and gave me a new one. That one lasted me till June of this year when I sold it to a collector in the States.
The picture shows an EK chain, they’re not a cheap brand. If you have no luck with Triumph approach them directly, you’ve got nothing to lose
So:apart from great chain advice: I am riding a T120 that by my warranty service may have 8500 miles..and will seek written confirmation of chain performance. Given what the experts voices say.. Suggest: 1:Send letter, images and cost to replace. 2:Indicate item not fit for purpose and if they do not replace within 14days..you will and then send invoice. 3:If after 14 days they do not pay, issue proceedings in small claims with all the evidence (including advice here -minus expletives) 4: Advise you will post on all forums, twitter etc much against your wishes. 5:Guarantee they will not want loss of confidence or bad publicity in media..they will sort it! (If mine goes, that’s what will happen.) M
I think that Triumph uses the same chain lenght for spped twins,T100s, T120s Thruxtons etc. With some arrangements of front and rear sprokets, the chain is too long and leaves too little space for adjustment. I would consider removing a pair of links or fitting a rear sproket with one or two more teeth. Bruno

Quite right , I fitted a new chain and sprockets. Two new chain links removed, now as it should have been! Safe riding and cheers.
After the first service there was only one marker left for the chain adjust, but T dealer said this was normal. More fool me I guess! Without giving misleading and unqualified advice, I would say give it a try. After fitting my new Gold and Black chain and sprockets then removing extra 2 links everything is good.
Yes indeed I now have about three markers to go or about 2/3 of the wheel stud left for adjustment. Not easy to see though. Give it a go!
Just a bit of an update since I put a bigger sprocket on the rear wheel at 8800 miles (37T to 40T. I've now done just short of 16000 miles and have still lots of adjustment left on the original chain. The chain is still perfectly serviceable when checked by trying to pull it off the sprocket mid way around the sprocket. I would have to conclude that there's nothing wrong with the quality of the original chain, it's just down to a poor choice of sprockets or chain length by the factory.
