Just run the bike up the road there seems to be no power after 3000 RPM. Seems very sluggish, but starts very well. Could be the automatic advance unit? Lovely day but going nowhere.
Hmmm ... could be all sorts of things really! By all means give the aau a shot of WD40 or similar. Are the points and timing set up properly? Has the bike been stood awhile? Is the petrol fresh? Are there mice nesting in the air filter (yes ... seriously!) if fitted? Is there crud in the carbs. (TR6? One carb then!) Do you have any fuel filters and are they clear? Is the air vent in the petrol tank filler cap clear? It does sound a bit like fuel starvation to me, but just work through the fuel system, making sure everything is clean and set up as it should be, and check the points and timing to make sure all is well there. At least with one carb, 4 tappets, and two sets of points, things should be relatively simple ... I hope ... probably! Good luck! (I have happy (rose tinted?) memories of my '69 Bonneville, so I can feel your pain!!)
Add compression test to Steve's excellent list F, maybe float needle sticking?, and test float err floats in a cup of water, good luck. I have a pair of them glasses, 1965 Bonnie it was
There are times, RR, when I feel slightly archaic!! Got a nice T-shirt from a stall on Bridlington market last Wednesday ... nice piccy of a mid sixties (blue) Bonneville on it. Would post a picture of it on here, but SWMBO has it in her ironing pile, and I'm not going anywhere near that!!!!
