    If you're pulling it apart you might want to check the condition of the stator to reg/rec connector and maybe replace it with a better one. Also, I found a charge monitor be be really useful and probably stopped me having more issues.

    One day when sat at idle the monitor flicked to amber and red but was fine if the bike was revved. It didn't sit right with me so I pulled it apart and found that the stator connector was scorched. I think that the years and corrosion were beginning to affect it and the monitor had caught it before anything went up in smoke. From memory the stator output rating is 35amps so the connector needs to meet that spec. I got great advice and service here: https://kojaycat.co.uk/

    Voltage regularor now on the left side
    I extended the cables and made à bracket from aluminium.
