Just watched the news, showed a shocking robbery of a guys motorbike/moped. Rider was jumped when at traffic lights, at knife point. I know the police have there hands full, but a lot more needs to be done. First thing they need to do, is get rid of the no chase policy.
I agree fully, but there are too many do gooders out there willing to finish an officers' career when the sh!t hits the fan. Only recently, after nearly three years of investigation, have four met cops been cleared of misconduct after a moped riding (suspected) drug dealer died after he saw cops. They weren't even engaged in a pursuit or an attempt to stop, he just saw them and went for it colliding with a stationary vehicle.
Let's hope they tackle this problem head on, but I think some of these robbers don't put on a helmet so the police won't chase them.....health and safety and all that shit.
That’s a sad state of affairs on your side. We have just had another jihad azzhole run down and kill 8 innocents in NYC yesterday. When will all this end.
And the latest news, a 14 year old is arrested. for throwing acid in the face of a scooter rider, when attempting to steal his bike. The police really need to act.
In this stupid state we live in - if you try to protect yourself or possessions - you can end up being prosecuted. Minors get away with seriously bad behaviour - because they are young. Yet they are still old enough to plan an attack, tool up and carry out their misdemenour. When will the authorities realise that the kids are out of control. Not all kids are bad but the few make it bad for the many.
These "corrosive fluid" attacks are completely out of hand because there's a lesser sentence than a knife attack. In my simple world, anyone who uses corrosive fluids on another human being is, effectively, taking their life [eyesight, huge bodily scarring, etc], so I'd make the penalty the same as for murder. Whilst I'm re-writing the law books, I'd remove the word "reasonable" from the "all reasonable doubt" phrase and bring back execution for anyone taking anothers life with malice and where there is no doubt [or for substantially taking someones quality of life - as with acid attacks]. I simply cannot understand why the do-gooders aren't able to correlate the easing of punishment of children with the massive increase in bad behaviour. When I was in school [around a thousand years ago] it was in a working-class mill town in Yorkshire. In the whole of my time at secondary school we had one event where a kid punched a teacher and the whole school was completely amazed and appalled. Mind you, those were the days when the maths teacher [who was also the basketball coach] would slipper someone with a two-step run-up and if some kid didn't cough to a misdemeanor the whole class got caned.
As for the yard dogs on the scoots at the traffic lights I must admit to finding it strange that the TV cameras were on hand to interview the victim and a witness. Coincidence?
