Had an annual service and first MOT on the Twin last week, with a recurring oil light fault that I couldn't diagnose. Asked Fowlers in Bristol to check that out as part of the service which found the issue was in the head unit itself. At £705+VAT this was not a pretty picture. Had a call from Fowlers today and, despite the bike being out of warranty, they have offered to replace the head unit free of charge, just a half hour labour to fit. Talk about Christmas coming early...! A big thank you to the people at Triumph, it's made a very sorry/potentially significantly poorer man very happy!
I guess at 3 years old, they'd be entitled to wash their hands of it. Full marks for not doing so! What're you going to spend the £750 saving on?
100%, and what I fully expected them to do! Well, I wasn't planning on spending it in the first place so it's going to stay safely where it needed to be...which is in the pot for the SR500 build I've got going on!
This is a great advert for Triumph and underlines the benefit of using main dealers for servicing. I had a similar problem with a Tiger 800 a few years ago. I bought the bike new and had it main dealer serviced every year. Just after the first MOT I had a problem with the swinging arm. Despite being out of warranty Triumph agreed to replace it FOC, retail cost would have been just over £1,000.
