My new 2025 T100 makes a noise when the ignition is on. The fuel pump starts like normal and stops as it should after a couple of seconds. But there is a noise that sounds like cicadas that goes on as long as the ignition is on. Is it the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator? Some says its normal. I think it sounds a bit "unhealthy" :)

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have not had any experience with the new T100.
My T100's were the earlier carb'd versions. If you are in any doubt about the nose then the first thing to do is to go back to the supplying dealer.

If they are a long way from you then send a copy of the clip to them and discuss over the phone

I've had 2 Street Scramblers and both did the same thing, as does the 1200 I have now so, in that respect, it's probably normal.
The noise isn't there with the ignition on and the kill switch in the STOP position so I'd guess it's either the fuel regulator or a fuel shut off solenoid.
I agree it sounds strange, particularly as other EFI bikes I own are completely silent but I just ignore it.

@Stilleben Yes let the dealer have a listen. But as peeps say its just a quirk with the bike. My 660 did very similar but it was under warranty and the dealer said they just do that.

My 2022 T100 does the same thing. If the kill switch is in the "kill" position it doesn't happen. I hear the fuel pump briefly when I turn on the ignition switch and the clock dials do their normal sweep, then silence. If I have the kill switch in the "run" position a slightly lower and softer noise, different than the initial fuel pump sound, continues until I start the bike. My memory is that the bike did not behave this way when brand new - before I had the tank off the first time. But, I am honestly not sure, and it may have acted this way from the get go.

My Street Triple sounds like it's sending a fax, just like yours! Apparently it's the throttle body servo - the noise changes if you twist the throttle. It also sends another fax briefly when you turn the engine off for I am told another reason (something do do with the ECU making adaptations?). https://recorder.google.com/84f25c33-e50f-4a90-bf17-6b4c97e374ee

That makes sense with the bikes now having drive by wire throttles. My other bikes with EFI have good old throttle cables, remember those!:) Reliable, adjustable and totally silent. I guess that's "progress".:joy:

I have to admit this Street Triple makes a whole array of weird noises, part of the character I guess!! My Blade and Ducati just turn on and the fuel pump primes, even though the Ducati is ride by wire.
