Bar End Mirrors

For me they are for looks only. 1, they tend to vibrate more, 2, my bl**dy elbow will block the view and 3, they will bang into car and van mirrors when filtering.

 

Well folks I got the oval mirrors pictured by struv above from the bay offered by banjoholic for $200 US incl shipping. This seller is an excellent seller - mirrors arrived after about 14 days (UK to US); packaged excellent in a shipping box, plastic bag, and gobs of bubble wrap; original unopened untouched by human hands Triumph box.

These mirrors are top notch quality, heavy metal, flawless mat black paint, high gloss glass - typical Triumph quality. The mirrors fit easily to the mounts on my 2023 Bonneville T120.

Alas and alack, the outer edge of the mirror is 1 and 3/4 inches further inboard than the stock mirrors; thus, less of a view rearward and more of a view of my shoulders. Have decided to stick with the stock mirrors.

 

If they vibrate more than OE mirrors on stalks you have not fitted them correctly.

 

Bar ends all the way, and what does it really matter if you can’t see out of them? (Joking)
I don’t have any problems with mine and they look so much nice imo.

 

im sorry bud i hadn't actually fitted mine when i mentioned them and yes your correct they are worse than the Micky mouse ones. i couldn't believe it when i got around to fitting them please accept my apologies for giving a bum steer

 

I really like the bar end mirrors on the Speed 400, rock steady, good view and to me they look special!

 

No worries struv; I was able to fine tune the stock mickey mouse mirrors and get a decent view rearward; still have the oval ones in their original box and packing and will offer them for sale when I get un-lazy.

 

Don't know if I'm too late with this, but have a look at Halcyon bar-end mirrors. They look just like the classics from the 60's and I've fitted them to my 2016 T120 and an Interceptor and IMO they're way better than the OEM items.

The Triumph bar end mirrors are excellent for looks but especially for the rear view they provide. I know, not exactly the same as the standard mirrors, but these are superior for vision IMHO.

 

Guys, I am here again looking for replacements for my stock Mickey Mouse mirrors; am tired of having to lean over to get a clear view of whats behind me.

Anyone found replacements other than bar end mirrors for the stock ones that reach out further?

 

How about some mirror extenders?

thanks for the info; at the website, the extenders get a good review; however, the manufacturer sez that the extenders are M10 right hand threaded; specifically indicate they are not for M8 Bonne T120s; will email them and see if they have a set for the latter.

 

If you can't find ant specifically for the T120 you could always use a thread reducer/adaptor.

OK guys, for my 2023 Bonneville Black T120 mickey mouse stock mirrors, on Amazon I found and installed some excellent black mirror extenders:

The supplied extenders and mounting hardware are top notch. Engraved with the 'Bonneville' logo. Took a bit of time to arrive; product ordered on Friday from China and arrived at New York Customs on Monday; then finally delivered on Friday.

They extend the mirrors 1 3/4 inches outward and, with included risers, raised them 2 inches from their original mounts. The view now is excellent on the right and left.

However, there were some installation hitches due to my stock mirrors being female threaded up into the mirror arm ends. The supplied installation instructions did not apply but there were enough bolts and adapters to make it work.

I had to trip to the hardware store to pick up two 8mm lock nuts and flat washers. The inboard ends of the extenders are not threaded (a good thing); but, the outboard ends were threaded - I had to drill those threads out to make installation of risers and mirrors easier. Surprise, three of the supplied risers are reverse threaded and 3 are not - no worries, only needed one reverse threaded one and one normal one to make fastening work.

I used the stock Triumph mirror allen bolts with 8mm lock nuts to secure the inboard ends of the black extenders to the brake/clutch handles; used supplied allen screws and risers to mount the mirrors to the outboard ends of the extenders. Happy Camper.

 

I fancied bar end mirrors on my Striple and found a pair of cheapo ones one EBay at just over a tenner so thought they were worth a punt.

I really liked the arms as the colour matched the bike but didn’t like the mirrors as the were tinted and weren’t a true 1 to 1 reflection so I swapped them for the OE mirrors as the thread was the same. Final result I’m really pleased with and no vibration at all irrespective of road speed or revs.

I now use the OE left hand mirror stalk to mount my X4 360° camera

Yes, here you go. The small ally mounting plate was made from a piece of 20mm angle 3mm thick and is held on to the mirror mount arm by an M6 bolt. The camera is fixed to the mount with a hex socket cap screw ¼” dia x 20 TPI.(the standard thread for all tripod mounts etc).

The first trial run eventually had the mounting plate and camera working a tad loose and canted over to one side. Easily spotted whilst riding and fixed with my wallet spanner card. Permanently sorted with a decent application of thread lock and attention to tightening torque. Subsequent trip to Clarkson’s Pub, 120 mile round trip proved not to be a problem.

When mounting the camera onto the mount you are advised to fit a thin rubber washer between the bottom of the camera and the ally mount to act as an alternative to a sprung washer or thread lock, god forbid. Tightening torque for the screw into the camera base was very reluctantly advised by insta360 as 5 to 10 Nm. If you’re using a hex socket cap screw you will need a ³⁄₁₆” Allen key, which will comfortably fit in the soft camera pouch together with the screw and rubber washer.

And just in case anyone is wondering what a wallet spanner card is, here you go. Credit card size, says it’s stainless steel but it sticks to the magnet in my iPad so probably only just.
