I have aquired an old bike which is apparently a 1967 6T ex police machine the engine is from a t120 dated by engine number to 1970 ,not a problem as matching numbers not a problem as i remember the days when no one cared. However the speedometer drive is from the gearbox? still not a problem but it needs a new drive cable the present one is approx 4 feet long not as long as the wheel drive ones so does anyone have advice please
Simple answer is I don't know, but Venhill provided me with a +20mm longer pair of throttle cables to fit 765 handlebars on a 675. I'd give them a ring and ask what options they could offer?
West Yorkshire, have you come across gearbox drive speedometer on a unit construction bonneville before?Do you think the old ones for pre unit models would fit cheers
Get yourself onto triumphmotorcycle forum and see if you can track down lron. He's pretty clued up on the leaky shakers
Police bikes used the chronometric speedo so would have probably had the gearbox drive casing from 63 to 65 and when the engine was changed in your bike they used the early outer gearbox casing on the 70 engine. Do you have a chronometric or magnetic speedo ???
You have a magnetic speedo, not correct for a police bike but correct for a 67 bike. There are two cables listed for your bike, one is part number 60-0542 that is 44 inches long and 60-0543 that is 40 and a half inches long.
