the ignition from australia is in the post. due here this coming week. handmade unit by a retired electronics person who does them for the local sidecar racers.
obviously not. messed up forum. i cant post images from my phone because thats not where they are. oh well. anyway, the diagram you cannot see shows the machining specs for a 180-degree ignition hall affect rotor. you also cannot see the photograph of a finished example. and you cannot see the photograph of the ignition box, illustrating the different harness connections for power, sensors, and rev limit/;advance control. sorry folks. the forum imaging application is messed up5. not within my power to fix.
Bummer that you're unable to post photos, @speedrattle. I've never had any issues posting from my phone (old iPhone model), my iPad (REALLY old edition), or my laptop (relatively new). But all my photos are synched across devices and they are in the Photos program. From what platform are you trying to post? @Havit, any thoughts on this issue that speed rattle is having??

^^^this image is from my phone. i can still upload images on this forum from my phone, but most of my images aren't stored there. i strip stuff out of my phone regularly. this was not a problem a few months ago. i could link to images i stored on imgur.com without difficulty. i still can, on other forums. the images that i cannot post here appear normally on britbike.com and triumphrat.com. they do not appear on triumphtalk.com.
shit fire i can post images tonight. sort of. thats the rotor for the ignition. looks like the flat bottom of a soup can with 180 degrees of side left standing up 10mm. the coils are in parallel, not series, so each is 12volts not 6 and there is no waste spark. the leading and trailing edges of the shutter are 180 degrees apart, not like its shown in this picture for a n offset crank. so one coil is fired at one end of the shutter, and the other is fired at the other. the guy that makes the ignition just does the transistor box and sends you these drawings for the rotor. i spoke to one of my machinists yesterday and got contact infor for his artist-machinist to do this rotor. that guy has a CNC shop, and is the one with the rotary table who cut the adjuster slots in my ARD magneto to allow me to knock the FM mag unit back and forth about 10 degrees so i could adjust it with a timing light while the mmotor was running. another story.
shit the system is slow. it takes ten minutes to upload a single image. maybe my satellite internet is the problem here. im going to try to upload an image of the rotor after one has been machined. it used to take only seconds, but clearly something has changed. looks like thats it for tonight.
and what the hell, its autumn, and the turkey vultures are migrating douth to whereever they go. hers a bunch hanging around waiting for stragglers
rotors! i have four machinists for this motorcycle. one does the cylinder heads o e does my pistons another built and repairs the crankshaft and this guy is the artist, who makes intricate weird stuff, like these ignition rotors: hes very very good and very very eccentric but now i have three to test. he was unsure about the taper, because it didnt calculate out the way it should have. but the rotors fit into an old 72 exhaust cam i brought him, so tomorrow ill see whether i can mount the coils and the transistor box and maybe test em out
