On my 2013 T100, I checked the throttle free play as part of the never-ending heated grip install project. It appears to not have the correct amount of slack, and i think it never has since the bike was manufactured.

I took the throttle bodies out and attempted to adjust the cables. I tried to make the accelerator cable as long as possible but there is almost no slack in the cable.

See how little free play there is at the throttle

I adjusted the decelerator cable so that the the throttle returns (it snaps back).

I am tempted to just reinstall the throttle body as is.

Is there any reason there should be no slack in the accelerator cable?

You don't need a lot and you seem to have adjustment on the screws yet. Don't worry to much about the return cable if it has some free play.

    Looks good to me !
No play at all would accelerate cable wear...

Well seems to operate fine as it is. Threw me for a loop since I was just following the Haynes book and youtube. Had the tank and throttle bodies out for nothing.
