Some words, like 'birkie' and 'coof' are no longer in use, but you can tell from the context what he means. 'Bear the gree' is no longer used either, but it means 'take first place'.
I did say a couple of beers didn’t I? One of my go to favourites… Hacker Pschorr - Münchner Gold… flavour for miles… if you’re only having a couple, make them top drawer!
Not much beats a beer with pizza in my book. I chose this IPA with a nod to my UK friends. The pizza is arugula, prosciutto, and tomato on a gluten-free crust. I don't give a hoot about gluten but I like this particular crust for its taste and crispy deliciousness.
Well, I had my first drink since New Years Day. It was a "Job Well Done Beer" We got a foot of snow overnight and throughout today. I deserved it! (The beer - not the snow)
Tonight is a Rum Old Fashioned (Kraken spiced black rum)… darn tasty it is too!!! https://www.krakenrum.com/
Muddled cherry and orange flesh with brown sugar cube About 6 shakes of orange bitters Big chunk of ice (cracked if you’re a Wisconsin type) And exactly a glug of Kraken black spiced rum Throw in an orange slice (on a stick with another cherry if you’re a Wisconsin type) Swizzle (not shaken or stirred) Serve down your neck, try not to spill out of your smile! https://www.krakenrum.com/
Well, I'd make myself one of @DCS900's Spiced Black Rum Old Fashioned...if I had the Kraken rum. I went by our local mom & pop liquor store, Plaza Liquor, for a few supplies but feckin' forgot the Kraken! Next time. I did, however, remember to pick up a bottle of rye, along with replenishing my Hendrick's Orbium gin. This time it was a new rye--Restoration. I tried it out in an Old Fashioned this evening. Delicious!
I think I’ll be trying a couple of glasses of this tonight… I’ve got some Pepsi Max on standby in case it’s a little aggressive! https://drinksint.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/9903/The_Macallan_launches_81-year-old_single_malt.html
I still haven't purchased a bottle of that Kraken spiced black rum that @DCS900 used for a creative rendition of an Old Fashioned. But his creativity inspired me to try something a bit different for an Old Fashioned this evening. I made this with my typical recipe but instead of rye or bourbon I used a mesquite smoked single malt whiskey distilled right here in Tucson--Whiskey Del Bac Dorado. It just might be my new favorite. The smokiness quite compliments the sweetness of the sugar cube and cherry and it all creates a complexity that I really like.
Not tonight because it's all gone but Saturday night just gone, a five litre can of Okell's bitter. You piss heads that have been to the Isle of Man will know all about the delights of this cask ale. While tin ale is just not the same, it did help to wash down a belting Chicken Jalfrezi with Pilau rice and a chapati.
