Afternoon Joe, Just had my 1050 94 Edition done at Hilltop last week.. Worked a treat, taken out my mid range flat spot and improved the torque. Made it alot smoother the engine really starts to sing when you open it up. Good people up there, I had a good ride up from Bristol way.. A429 then old Fosseway.. Took a couple of hours but well worth it... Definitely have it done.. Cheers... Andy
I rode back from having mine done, thinking "I've nothing to show for this...no evidence...perhaps it's a placebo thing". But even if you're paying out to simply imagine it's better...then it's money well spent
HillTop came back to me & tbh it’s looking like I’m heading there. Part one achieved today with the cat out.
Will be welded this week & seals ordered for header then I shall plan in the hilltop appointment. Why the face of concern?
Only that it kind of looks drastic - you're clearly braver than me! Although, now that I know this is a second set and you still have the original headers...I think I'd try something like this too My approach would be to cut out the cat and replace it with a piece of straight pipe though...did you consider that? Keep us posted - the Hilltop results will be very interesting.
I’ll keep you posted along the way. The trouble is there are mounting points for the exhaust trim that need to stay in place plus this way everything stays in alignment, it would only take a couple of degrees out when welding in the replacement section for issues meeting the rear section. Hence this route.
Here’s one for all..... ...why do all the de-cat pipes on the market for Thruxton etc state no need to remap as they run a self learning system. Surely a Speedy would be the same thought process
Afternoon all, I have stumbled across this thread (and the others linked within it) after doing a bit of research on some planned upgrades to my 2017 Speed Triple R. I have always had the feeling that she is a little strangled by the emissions regs and the like so probably has a little more to give with some minor fettling. Some of the dyno plots I’ve now seen would seem to agree... I am now the proud owner of a yet-to-be-delivered Arrow Lowboy, newly purchased off of Fleabay, which will replace the standard headers and Arrow twin pipes I currently have on the bike, though reading some of the posts I’m not sure how necessary or much of a difference the new pipes / de-cat are really going to make? Anyone got any thoughts or comparable experience? Other than that, I had planned to get a higher flow air filter and a Power Commander and a bit of dyno time with a tuner I know and have used before, but again reading the posts I’m now considering the Hilltop tune instead (albeit would be a postal job for me I think rather than attending in-person). The main reason for thinking of going for a dyno-tuned custom map would be to ensure that everything is set up properly for my specific bike and the parts fitted, though again Hilltop talk a good game in terms of the auto-adjustment and the like that their software apparently makes. Has anyone out there compared the two approaches directly? Thanks in advance!

Wow glad I haven’t bit the bullet yet and paid the £300+ for a Hilltop remap. It does sound very suspicious. Anybody on here had a more positive experience? G
You need the new map loaded for that exhaust minimum. This isn't your range of R and vin, but its further down on TuneECU website, I've got map 20607 on my 2012 R.
Be in here, search TuneECU Triumph maps and page will come up, you can get TuneECU software and adapter for under £15 and do it yourself, or pay main dealer to put it on. But think for your year of bike TuneECU can't access ECU.
