Hi everyone! Just wondering can anybody identify this bike? We recently found this family photo it was my dads bike, pic taken in the 1950's. He always used to share great stories about the bike so curious for more info. Thanks
I’d say it’s a Terrier (T15) with its single seat, early frame and plunger rear suspension Great picture btw.
Thanks Tiglet, lots of great stories of it too. Sadly all in the photo have now passed away but very happy memories. Different times! Must see if I can track a Terrier (T15) down and see one in the flesh
Hi, It's actually an early Tiger Cub, either 1954 or 1955. As people have mentioned it's a single and definitely either a Cub or a Terrier. The music bar tank badge dates it as between 1953-1955 (The Terrier came out in 53 and the Cub in 54). Both had plunger rear suspension. The colour (as much as you can tell in a B&W photo) is what gives it away. The Terrier is Amaranth Red (a dark red, the same colour as the Speed Twins of the period) The Cub is Shell Blue Sheen (a light blue metallic, the same as the T110) Fantastic picture and history BTW
I'm glad you like it. It's got quite a bit of personal history. My dad also had a cub as a youngster and loved it, so when I was 15 we both went out and bought this rusting pile took it fully apart and did it up together (well, to be honest I was a typical teen-ager and dad did most of the work). It then went to my mum, and now has come back to myself. Over that intervening 40 years it's never needed any further work, though I am currently considering redoing just the tank and mudguards (the blue bits).
I don't remember the Terrier, but a few of my friends had Cubs (Cubbies). 200cc, and smaller than the BSA C15 (250cc) which I had. Had a go on one once and induced a frightening tank-slapper by waggling the bars - my C15 was quite stable and I could mess about like that. Great photos bring back old memories.
